Robert S. Carr 
Robert Stanley Carr, 83, a resident of Hendricks, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday afternoon, Feb. 1, at his home.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 26, 1924, at Gladwin, a son of the late Oliver Carr and Louisa Carr. On March 29, 1947, he was married to the former Joy Maxine Burns, who preceded him in death Nov. 25, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Knotts and husband Kenneth
Jr. of Dunbar and Sandi George and husband Gene of Elkins;
and one brother the Rev. Floyd Carr of Hendricks.
Preceding him in death was one daughter, Brenda S. Murray; five brothers, Glen,
Warren, Pete, Hobert and Sturley Carr; and seven sisters, Lillie Plaugher, Retha
White, Nellie Jenkins, Dovie Johnson, Mary Carr, Marjorie Lyon and Hazel Carr.
He attended the schools of Jenningston, was a veteran of World War II serving
with the United States Army as a Sergeant in India for three years, worked for the former
Dorman Mills for many years and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at
Rosendorf.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons
from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home
parlor, Monday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. Pastor John Means and Pastor Mike Wamsley officiated and interment followed at the McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks.

Christlena Cassidy
Christlena Alberta Miller Cassidy, 96, a resident of Leadmine, and more recently of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, died Thursday evening, Feb. 1, in the nursing home due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Cassidy had made her home with son Paul and family, Sharon, Amanda and Chris, prior to going to Cortland Acres.
She was born Sunday, July 3, 1910, at Shaffertown, a daughter of the late Christopher Arnold and Harriet Louise Nethken Miller. On May 22, 1928, she was married to Cyrus M. Cassidy, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1984. They had celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons, John Wesley Cassidy of St. George, Charles Arnold Cassidy and wife Sarah of Guntersville, Al., and Paul Richard Cassidy Sr. and wife Sharon of Leadmine; two sisters, Janet Louise Rhoades of Hambleton and Florence Freda Cogley of St. Cloud, Fla.; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death was her twin sister, Martha Elizabeth Bohon; one brother Joseph Roland Miller; two half-brothers Ruben and Robert Friend; one half sister Deggie Alice Friend; and one daughter-in-law Reland Bondell Cassidy.
Mrs. Cassidy was a former employee at Harper’s General Store and Post Office and Lipscomb’s Store in Leadmine. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and hooking rugs. She was well known for making homemade butter and cheese. She was a Christian by faith and affiliated with Leadmine United Methodist Church.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home of Davis on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Sunday at Leadmine United Methodist Church on Sunday Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Laird and the Rev. Neil Parsons officiating. Interment followed in Shaffertown Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Patrick Flanagan
Patrick Craig Flanagan, 37, died suddenly on Jan. 21 at his home in Alexandria, VA.
Mr. Flanagan ha been a Physical Education teacher at Ramsey Elementary School in Alexandria, Va. He attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, Va. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and spent summers on the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
He is survived by his two daughters Shannon and Meghan Flanagan of New Britain, Pa.; his mother Margaret Anne Teranto of Downington, Pa. ; his father James Flanagan of St. George; one brother John McTheny of Pleasonton, Ca.' and a sister Jennifer McTheny of Alexandria, Va.
His maternal grandmother is Martha Kochenderfer of Parsons, his maternal grandfather was Miles C. Kochenderfer. HIs paternal grandmother is Lecee Flanagan of Hendricks, and his paternal grandfather was Paul Flanagan.
A rosary and prayer service was held at Demanie's Funeral Service in Alexandria. In accordance with his wishes, eh was cremated. A private memorial service will be held on the Outer Banks in North Carolina on St. Patrick's Day.
Ellen N. Lawson
Ellen Nelson Griffith Lawson, 80, a former resident of Hambleton, and a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Saturday evening, Jan. 27, at the home.
A life celebration for Mrs. Lawson will be held at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Feb. 11 at 2p.m. The Reverend J. Michael Lantz will officaite and interment will follow at the Laurel HIll Cemetery at Whitmer. The Lohr & Barb Funeral HOme is in charge of the arrangements for Ellen Nelson Griffith Lawson.
Donald F. Lowther 
Donald Forrest “Snork” Lowther, 77, a former resident of Hendricks, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2007, at the home.
He was born Friday, July 12, 1929, at Sugar Creek in Webster County, a son of the late Melville H. Lowther and Sarah A. Cogar Lowther. He was formerly married to the former Carol Jane Loughry, who survives.
Surviving are one son, Donald F. Lowther Jr. and wife Paula of Hendricks; two daughters, Christina M. Worrell and husband Harold Dean of Carpon, Va., and Donna M. Bolinger and husband John of Hendricks; two brothers, Jesse D. “Buck” Lowther and wife Pauline of Leadmine and Charles G. Lowther and wife Deloris of Dailey; three sisters, Aretta J. Krause, Betty L. Humphrey Mothershed and wife Bob and Carol S. Sarvinas and husband Bill all of Sanford, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Matthew, Joshua, Heather, Casie, Jedediah, John and Samuel; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tristen, Joshua and Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Dana Ray Lowther, Melville H. Lowther Jr. and Lester Gray Lowther; three sisters, Eula “Billie” Tunning, Josephine Mae Wilt and Myrtle Nell Lowther.
He attended the schools of Webster County. He was Sergeant First Class with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, having earned four Bronze Stars and a Silver Medal. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills of Parsons, Frazee Lumber, Minear Lumber and Mullenax Lumber Companies all of Tucker County, the former P.F.I. of Hendricks and the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was an avid outdoorsman.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Harley DeLeurere and The Rev. Greg Lanham will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War will conduct full military rites. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Donald Forrest Lowther.
Paul Meyer 
Paul Alphonsus Meyer, 85, of Davis, passed away Jan. 29, 2007, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Davis, a son of the late Edgar Guy Meyer and Gertrude Veronica Hivick Meyer. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine Korosec Meyer in 1987.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Herman August “Jim” Meyer, Charles Frederick Meyer and two at infancy, Robert and Edgar; four sisters, Mary Jackson Marshall, Rosina Meyer, Zita Rookwood and one at childhood, Gertrude.
Survivors include one sister, Katherine DeWitt or Morgantown; nephews, Herman A. Meyer Jr., Frederick E. Meyer, Robert DeWitt, Edward Herrington, Dr. Alexander Waitkus and Robert Waitkus; and one niece, Susan F. Meyer.
Mr. Meyer was a WWII veteran having served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Mississippi BB-41. He worked as an autobody technician at Meyer Pontiac Garage in Davis for many years until its closure. He then retired from the Davis Center where he was employed as a teacher in the woodworking shop. He was a member of the former St. Veronica Catholic Church, American Legion and VFW Post of Thomas and the Davis IOOF Lodge #103.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Pase Sr. 
Robert Norman Pase Sr., 74, a resident of the Blackman Heights Community, Hambleton, departed this life Thursday evening, Feb. 1, at his home. Death was unexpected and attributed to a massive heart attack.
He was born Thursday, Dec. 29, 1932, at Thomas, a son of the late Herbert Andrew Pase and Ola Belle Rinehart. On Oct. 23, 1952, at Red House, Md., he was married to the former Pearl Faye Simmons, who survives.
Also surviving are one son Robert Norman Pase Jr. and wife Deborah Lynn Hardy Pase of Yorktown, Va.; one daughter Susan Gayle Pase Wamsley and husband Charles Edward “Fuzz” Wamsley Jr.; seven grandchildren, James Scott Wamsley and wife Jessica of Hendricks, Robert Norman Pase III and wife Angenette of Yorktown, Va., Danya Rachelle Pase of Memphis, Tenn., Lauren Michele Wamsley and Eric Todd Wamsley, both of Hendricks, Katya Elizabeth Pase and Andrew Ruslan Pase, both of Yorktown, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Scott Wamsley, Emma Beret Wamsley and Haden Michael Wamsley, all of Hendricks.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one son James Randal Pase; and two brothers Herbert Allen Pase and Gerald Guy Pase.
He was a graduate of Thomas High School with the Class of 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean conflict. He was formerly employed by several construction union companies and retired from Wamsley’s Woodworking during the year 2000. He was a member of the Carpenters Union of Clarksburg. He was a member of the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Methodist Church at Thomas and attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons and the Rev. Jeff Anderson officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, where the Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A. M. conducted ritualistic services. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Robert Norman Pase Sr.
Charles E. Rhodes 
Charles Edward Rhodes, 75, formerly of Davis, passed away Feb. 2, in Nella’s Nursing Home of Elkins.
He was born July 30, 1931, at Oakmont, a son of the late Henry Harrison Rhodes and Laura Alta Paugh Rhodes.
He is survived by one brother Joseph Thomas Rhodes of Charlottesville, Va.; and one sister, Cora Barlow of Tunnelton.
He was preceded in death by four brothers Richard, Dorsey, Robert and Glen Rhodes; and two sisters Marcella Paugh and Phyllis Shepherd.
Mr. Rhodes was a disabled veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean
Conflict. He was Protestant by faith.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home of Davis on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 2
to 4
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at hHInkle Funeral Chapel on
Sunday Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment followed
in Elk Garden Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Richard Schwartz
Richard Lee "Dick" Schwartz, 71, a resident of Deerfield Village, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Feb. 6 at his home.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons. Final rites will be conducted Saturday afternoon, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home parlor.
