Larry Phillips
Larry Robert Phillips, 46, a former resident of Parsons and a resident of Houston, Texas, departed this life Friday, Feb. 10, in Texas, following a brave and extended battle with cancer.
He was born Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1959, at Parsons, a son of Clifford Alan Phillips and Betty Joan Katzenmiller Phillips, who survive at Hambleton. On. Sept. 5, 1985, at Parsons, he was married to his high school sweetheart, the former Brenda Jean Booth, who survives at Houston, Texas.
Also surviving are three daughters, Erin Elizabeth Phillips of Lubbock, Texas, Chelsea Rebecca Phillips and Katelyn Marie Phillips, both of Houston, Texas; one brother, Allan Phillips and wife, Michelle, of Ranson; his father- and mother-in-law, Edwin and Wanda Booth of Parsons; brother-in-law, Steve Booth and wife Becky, of Hendricks; one nephew, Jon Phillips and one niece, Reanna Phillips, both of Ranson; as well as many other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Laurence and Gladys Nestor and Robert and Izetta Phillips.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1977. He was a graduate of Fairmont State College with the class of 1981. He was employed as a safety advisor for Exxon-Mobil of Houston, Texas. He was a man of excellence, a loving and dedicated husband and a generous and inspiring father. He as a member of Spring Masonic Lodge #1174, AF & AM, where he served as the Worshipful Master. He also was a member of the York Rite. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, active in his children’s many activities, and an avid outdoorsman, a man who loved life and its many blessings. Though we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in the Lord our God and in the knowledge that He has opened his arms to Larry, saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. J. Michael Lantz officiating. To honor Mr. Phillips wishes, cremation will follow.
