Mildred Eshelman

Mildred Grace Eshelman, 96, of Davis, passed away on Feb. 14 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 18, 1909 in Davis, a daughter of the late George Henry and Bessie Bell Twigg Eshelman. 

She is survived by her niece Betsy (and Rev. James) Martin of Davis; nephews Wayne C. (and Betty) Spiggle of Keyser and George Allen (and Nancy) Spiggle of Prestonsburg, Ky.; and several great nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Eshelman, Isabelle Spiggle and Ruth Edwards.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Miss Eshelman was a retired school teacher having taught 42 years in Tucker County, first at the Cosner and Cortland Schools in Canaan Valley, finishing her career at the Davis and Mountaineer High Schools.  She was a life long member of the Davis United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. 

Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home of Davis on Friday, Feb. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  Funeraal services were held at the Davis United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 18 at noon with the Rev. John Morrison and Rev. James Martin officiating.  Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery.  

Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.  

Timothy "Tiny"  Filler

Timothy Paul "Tiny" Filler, age 43 years, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2006, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Pittsburgh, Pa. He had been in declining health.

He was born Friday, March 30, 1962, at Parsons, a son of the late James L. Humphrey Sr. and Charlotte R. Filler.

He is survived by his stepmother, Rose L. Humphrey of Parsons. Also surviving are one son, Tristin Paul Filler of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Sam Humphrey and wife Angie, and Chris Watson, all of Parsons; three sisters, Cindy Harsh of Parsons, Donna Akins and husband Kenny of Hendricks and Pam Spessert and husband John, of Montrose; and his grandmother, Wanda Humphrey of Buckhannon.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Percy Floyd Humphrey and Michael Shawn Humphrey; and his grandparents, Floyd Humphrey and Viola Strawderman Humphrey, Percy J. Filler and Ruth Bonner Filler.

He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a former employee of Kingsford Charcoal Co., D & W Truck Lines and was a diesel mechanic with a trucking company in Bartow, Fla. with a trucking company. 

The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Brent Reed officiated and interment followed in Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
