Howard Bonner
Howard Bonner, of Rockville, Md., formerly of Davis, died on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Devoted husband of Joyce M. Bonner; loving father of Steven and Philip Bonner, Catherine Stream, and grandfather of Anna Stream. He has a brother, Curtis, and sisters Opal Bosley and Ruby Schaeffer.
Howard was a carpenter who most recently worked for the National Geographic Society. Prior to that he was a construction site superintendent and oversaw the building of several public schools in Maryland.
There will be a private service for the family. Interment will be at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, Md.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
Nellie McCray
Nellie McCray, 96, of Davis, passed away Feb. 23, at her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1909, at Jenningstown, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Arbana Wyatt Long. Her husband, Elmous Burl McCray, preceded her in death in 1968.
She is survived by one son, John (and Alice) McCray of Oakwood Village, Ohio; three daughters, Jean (and Toney) Osretkar of Frederick, Md., Geraldine Ruckle of Charleston and Patty (and Philip) Nyberg of Millbury, Mass.; a sister, Ruth Humbertson of Hagerstown, Md.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
She worked as a cook at the Wordens Hotel for 23 years. She was affiliated with the Community Bible Church of Davis.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis on Friday, Feb. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Glen Hugenin officiating. Interment followed in Davis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corp., P.O. Box 192, Parsons, W. Va. 26287. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Thelma Rizer
Thelma Geraldine Rizer, 89, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away Feb. 18 at St. John Westshore Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born April 25, 1916 in Pierce, a daughter of the late Dayton and Carrie Lipscomb Nazelrod.
She is survived by two sons William A. Rizer of Gerrardstown and Kenneth R. Rizer of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister Phyllis Flanders of Fort Meyer, Fla., one sister-in-law Jean Nazelrod of Hagerstown, Md.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Joseph Rizer; her son Harry A. Rizer; four brothers Rocky, Darwin, Justin and Jack; and one sister, Louise.
Mrs. Rizer was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo. She graduated from the Thomas High School in 1934.
A graveside service was held Feb. 22 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Huguenin officiating. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Iva Summerfield
Iva “Dolly” Godwin Summerfield, age 80 years, a resident of Parsons, went home to be with the Lord, Monday evening, Feb. 20, 2006, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Sunday, Aug. 30, 1925, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Joseph Godwin and Ina Pearl Nestor Godwin. On April 21, 1945, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Raymon Franklin Summerfield, who preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Velma Jean Nealis of Akron, Ohio, and Virginia Evans and husband Joe of the Blackman Flats Community; one brother, Dennis Godwin of St. George; five grandchildren, Deanna French and husband Darren, Jeff Evans and wife Susan, Debbie Brooks, Greg Evans and wife Teresa, and Jaime Coberly and husband Johnny; 12 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Ada Cross and husband Howard, of Montrose; a special friend; Bob Amie of Montrose; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Alva Shahan, Jacob Brooks Godwin, Johnny Godwin and Steven Godwin; and four sisters, May Streets, Sylvia Summerfield, Edith Nestor and Ruth Bohon.
She attended the one room school at Brushy Fork. She was a former employee of Hazel Atlas Glass Factory in Grafton and Glen L. Martin of Baltimore, Md., working as a riveter during World War II. She was a former employee of the Parsons Nursery, Nella’s Nursing Home at White Gables of Parsons, the Reidboard Sewing Factory of Elkins and the Parsons Footwear. She loved to garden, crochet and shopping; and she loved her family.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons officiated and interment followed at Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George, WV.

Barton Wolford
Barton Wolford, Jr., 72 of Seneca Rocks, passed away on Feb. 7 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
He was born Sept. 4, 1933 in Dry Fork, a son of the late Austin Barton and Vallie Viola Crossland Wolford.
He is survived by lifelong friend Rosalie Hornick of Seneca Rocks; two brothers David Allen Wolford of Elkins, Dwight Edward and wife Carol Ann Wolford of Parsons; one half brother John Wayne Phillips of Sea Grove, N.C.; two sisters Doris Arlene and husband Glenn Miller of Canaan Valley, Roberta Ann O'Quinn of Elkins and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Coy Jacob Wolford and Dennis Carl Wolford.
Mr. Wolford worked as a carpenter and was a member of the WV Carpenters Union.
Interment was in the Wolford Cemetery.
