Milton Ball

Milton L. Ball, 72, of Oakland, Md. and Parsons, died Sunday, March 18 at his home in Oakland. 

He was born on Sept 8, 1934, in Leadmine, a son of the late Raul F. and Nellie S. Roth Ball. 

He is survived by his wife Janet Harsh Ball of Oakland; one sister Juanita Hudgens of Horseshoe Run; one brother Glenn Ball of Terra Alta; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. 

Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, Md. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 20.  Services were held at Bethel - Texas United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Run, on Wednesday, March 21 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Deborah Friend officiating.  Interment followed in Texas Cemetery, Horseshoe Run.  Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans' organizations in southern Garrett County.  The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Union Ambulance Service, Rt. 1 Box 4, Aurora, WV  26705. 

Kenneth Knotts

The Rev. Kenneth Morris Knotts,  Jr., 55,  former resident of Parsons and a resident of Dunbar, WV., went home to heaven on Tuesday morning, March 20, at the Charleston Area Medical Center at Charleston, WV. Rev. Knotts had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage January of this year.

He was born Tuesday August 28, 1951 at Parsons a son of Kenneth M. Knotts, Sr. and Jane Ann Griffith Knotts, who survive at Parsons. On April 18, 1981 at Porterwood, WV., he was married to the former Joyce E. Carr Knotts, who survives. They had celebrated twenty-five years of marriage.

Also surviving are one sister; Mary Lea Moats and husband Donald of Moatsville and a niece; Angie LeRoy and husband Drew of McMurray, Pa.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1970, where he was a member of the football squad. Kenneth was called to preach at a very young age and became an ordained minister in August of 1985. He pastored a church in Hurricane for fourteen years from 1981 to 1995. He served the Lord in several offices, as Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, Apostle, Prophet and Youth Counseling. At the time of his death he was an employee of Wal-Mart at Cross Lanes. He was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle and was known for his wonderful sense of humor.

A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Power House Church of Deliverance, 512 Carver Street, West Dunbar, WV., to Celebrate the Life and Ministry of Kenneth, where the Pastor Bishop Melvin Mosley will be the presider.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday, March 23, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, March 24 at noon. Pastor Melvin Mosley and Pastor Pat Cassidy and Elder Sam Reese officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. Leota L. Nestor

Leota Loar Nestor, 86, a former resident of Gypsy and a resident of East Sparta, Ohio, departed this life Friday afternoon, March 23, at the home of her daughter, Sharyn J. Smith.

She was born March 20, 192, at Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Sam Loar and Janie Fisher Loar.  She was married to Charles Waitman Nestor, who preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1983.

Surviving are one son, Scott L. Nestor of Wheeling; one daughter, Sharyn J. Smith of East Sparta, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded her in death by two sons, Samuel C. Nestor and Steven L. Nestor.

She was a graduate of Lumberport High School with the class of 1940. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Tuesday, March 27, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed in Nestor Cemetery at St. George. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Leota Loar Nestor.
