Doris Adams

Doris Eugenia Adams, 82, of Aurora passed away March 29 at Ruby Memorial Hsopital in Morgantown.

She was born Mach 17, 1927 in Manheim, a daughter of the late Raymond Oscar and Eva Maria Ashby Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include four sons; two daughters; three sisters; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Friends were received on Tuesday, March 31.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at the Aurora United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron McCauley officiating.  Intermentwill follow in the Aurora Cemetery.

Mary Foreman

Mary Mamich Foreman, 89, widow of Lt. Col. Lewis Alden Foreman, died Friday, March 27, at Covenant Place.

She was born in Davis, a daughter of the late Frank Mamich and Frances Strdijot Mamich.

Mrs. Foreman was a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she served on the altar guild and was a member of the Dora Bultman Circle.

She was a graduate of Franklin square Nursing School in Baltimore, Md. and served in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Foreman was a registered nurse and retired from Tuomey Hospital after more than 20 years of service.  She will be remembered as an excellent cook who loved to share with frineds, family and her bridge clubs.  Her charity for others was always at the center of her life. 

Surviving are three sons Frank L. Foreman of Statesville, N.C., Lewis A. "Skosh" Foreman Jr. and wife Libby of Columbia, S.C. and James P. Foreman and wife Lee Anne of Amber, Pa.; one daughter Kimberly F. Harvin and husband Sep of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters Edith Waskewich and Julia Mamich both of Washington D.C.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Patrick W. (Wes) Poole officiating.  Private Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the services in the church fellowship hall.

Charles Hebb Jr. 

Charles William Hebb Jr., 60, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Wednesday evening, March 25, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1948, at Clarksburg, a son of Charles William Hebb, Sr. and Christine Lee Hebb, who survive.  On Feb. 6, 1976, at Parsons, he was married to the former Madeline "Carol" Stokes, who survives. They had celebrated thirty-three years of marriage.

Surviving are one son, Rocky Charles Hebb and wife Nina of Buckhannon; two stepsons, Michael "Todd" Bolyard and wife Shelly of Holly Meadows and David "Scott" Bolyard and wife Mistie of Blackman Flats; three daughters, Dana Lynn Corcoran and husband Rick of Blackman Flats, Teresa Ann Hebb of Hambleton, and Kimberly Susan Harper and husband Harold of St. George; two sisters, Charlotte F. Vanscoy and husband Alvin of Porterwood and Carol Ann Lemons and husband Rick of Cabins: eighteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1966. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam Conflict, where he earned a Purple Heart and other Combat Medals. He was a coal miner and, at one time, owned his own construction company. He retired in 2002 from the United States Forest Service in the Maintenance Mechanic Department. He was a member of the former Garnett Post #4322 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Parsons. He was an active member of the Sycamore Grove Church at Bull Run, St. George. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a noted guitar player and songwriter and was well known for his expertise in cooking.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, March 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War conducted full military rites.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Charles William Hebb Jr. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com

Patricia G. Hissom 

Patricia Gail "Pat" Hissom, 54, passed away at her home in Davis.

She was born June 17 1954, at Charleston, a daughter of George B. "Corky" Hissom of Charleston and the late Joan B. Hissom.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her stepmother Lois Hissom of Charleston; and her sister Connie (and Gene) Mingus, of Windsor, Ohio. Pat leaves behind her friend and companion of 14 years, Ronald G. Carr; his parents Elwood and Rosalie Carr; and Ron's three brothers and one sister, Tom (and) Terry Carr, John (and Janenne) Carr, Scott Carr and Lisa (and Mike) Corbitt. Also surviving are a niece, Stephanie (and Joel) Rosier of Windsor, Ohio, and SPC Matthew Mingus who is currently serving in Iraq, and several other nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from Sissonville High School (1972) and West Virginia University (1978) with a degree in forestry. She was employed for 25 years at Blackwater Falls State Park as a Naturalist and Recreation Director. She attended Davis United Methodist Church.

At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at the Davis United Methodist Church Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Tucker County Animal Shelter, 215 First St., Parsons, W.Va. 26287. Hinkle Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. 

Imogene Hovatter

Imogene Carol "Jean" Ware McCauley Hovatter, 73, a resident of Parsons, died peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, March 26, at her home.

She was born Tuesday, May 21, 1935, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Orla and Orda Jones Ware.  She was twice married, first on Nov. 21, 1953, she was married to Truman Porter McCauley, who preceded her in death, and then on Aug. 24, 1962, at Red House, Md., she was married to Orval "Jack" Hovatter, who survives. They had celebrated forty-six years of marriage.

Surviving are one daughter, Lynn Monahan and husband Junior of Parsons, and a beloved grandson, Bo Carr of Fairmont; two sisters, Mildred Schepis of Ohio, and Mary Matthey and husband Dave of Fla.;and  many nieces and nephews and a host of friends that she loved dearly.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Murl "Bud" Ware and wife Delores; and one brother-in-law, Tony Schepis.

She was a graduate of Phillip Barbour High School with the class of 1954 and worked in several local businesses. She was primarily a homemaker and nurturer, taking care of or befriending so many over the years. She was an excellent cook and many will miss her homemade treats, just one of the many ways she showed her love. She always had time for others, helping in any way or just listening with a caring heart.  Although at home with the Lord now, her legacy and love will live on forever in the hearts of her friends and family. For her lifetime of loving, caring and selfless giving, we give thanks to the Lord for her presence and touched lives. "And her children shall rise up and call her blessed."

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday, March 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Tuesday, March 31 at 11:30 a.m. The Reverend Eli Hostetler officiated and interment followed in the Pittman Cemetery in Barbour County.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary K. Hovatter

Mary Kalar "Tootie" Hovatter, 86, of Parsons, went to be with the Lord, Monday afternoon, March 23, in Morgantown, following a stroke the week before.

She was born Friday, July 21, 1922 in Parsons, a daughter of the late Lloyd Kalar and Lula May Schoonover Kalar Loughry.  She was married to Scott Hovatter, who preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2008.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Louise Hovatter Loughry and husband Allen of Parsons; three grandchildren, Kimberly Lynn Betler and husband Gary, Lisa Ann Loughry and Allen Hayes Loughry II and wife Kelly; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Kyle, Samantha Betler, Stephanie Betler, Scotty Elwood and Justus Loughry; one step-great-granddaughter, Sara Betler; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were one son, Scotty Lynn Hovatter on July 9, 1971; two brothers, John W. Kalar and Robert L. Kalar; and seven sisters, Jenny Ambrose, Lucille Hinchman, Helen Robinson, Rachel Hovatter, Gladys Barb, Hilda Strawderman and Frances Parsons.

She attended the schools of Tucker County. A member of the ladies auxiliary known as the Daughters of the Rebekah's, she was also a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church of Parsons, where she participated in the St. John's Women's group. Working at the former Tucker County Hospital for numerous years, she was also a caregiver for the elderly. She enjoyed spending her last few years residing with her daughter and son-in-law on Blackman Flats in Hambleton. Her hobbies included baking, reading, sewing, music and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, March 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Dorothy L. Nine

Dorothy Lou Funk Nine, 62, a resident of Salt Lick Road, Montrose, departed this life Sunday afternoon, March 29, at the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.

She was born Sunday, Jan. 12, 1947, at Yorks Run Community, Preston County, a daughter of the late Richard Paul Funk Sr. and Betty Lou Triplett Funk.  On May 8, 1965, she was married to Carl Edward Nine, who survives.

Also surviving is one son, Timothy Allen Nine of Elkins; one daughter, Tessa Michelle Henry and husband Kevin of Montrose; two brothers, Richard Paul "Skip" Funk Jr. and wife Roxanne of Newton Falls, Ohio, and and Mitchel Ray Funk Sr. of Reedsville; one sister, Diana Louise Wolfe and husband Harlin of Horse Shoe Run; six grandchildren, Matthew Nine of Martinsburg, Coedy and Ricky Nine both of Elkins, Tiffany Henry Stark and husband Tony, Branson Henry and Rachael Henry, all of Montrose; one great-grandson, Gavin Anthony Stark; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a graduate of Fellowsville High School with the class of 1964, was a homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Rebekah Lodge #98, the Kerens Homemakers and Mercy Chapel. She loved crafts, crocheting, quilting and puzzle books.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday.  At 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, the Pleasant Grove Rebekah Lodge #98 will conduct ritualistic services. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Charles L. Stevens and Pastor Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow in Shaw Cemetery at Denver, Preston County.  The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jennifer Bennett, 47 Turkey Run Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
