Dean Hudnall 

Dean Edward Hudnall, 88, of Parsons, WV., departed this life early Easter Sunday, April 8, at his home. He had been in declining health for the past two years and death was attributed to lung cancer.

He was born Wednesday, June 12, 1918 at Cedar Grove, a son of the late John Hudnall and Mary Elizabeth Whittington. On December 25, 1975, he was married to the former Linda L. Pigott, who preceded him in death October 17, 2002.

Surviving are two sons; Andrew Dean Hudnall and wife Dawn of Apollo, Pa., David Edward Hudnall of Parsons, one daughter; Jessica Evelyn Hudnall of Parsons, and one grandson; Robert Hudnall of Petersburg.

He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

He attended the schools of Kanawah County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide with the Hopemont State Hospital, he worked maintenance at various country clubs and was a truck driver. He was a member of the St. George Church of God.

The family received friends at the St. George Church of God at St. George, on Tuesday, April 10  from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.. Final rites will be conducted at the church at on Wednesday, April 11, at 1 p.m. Pastor Carolyn Shreve will officiate and interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery at Shiloh. Sandra Huffman 

Sandra Scripp Huffman, 69, a 20-year resident of Crofton died of Alzheimer's disease March 25 at the Crofton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a five year illness. 

She was born Dec. 16, 1937 in Kempton in Western Garrett County.  She was the daughter of the late Tony and Mary Scripp .  In 1955 she married Donald Huffman.  The couple divorced in 1985 and Mr. Huffman died in 1997. 

Surviving are her husband James Bennett, whom she married May 17, 1997; one daughter Rene Idoni of Martinsburg; four brothers Tony and Christopher Scripp of Bayard, Ronald Scripp of Anderson, S.C. and Jeffrey Scripp of Fairmont; two sisters Ramona Adams of Cleveland and Kathy Pelle of Baltimore; and many nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Huffman graduated from Bayard High School in Bayard in 1955.  She retired from working for the federal government on Capital Hill in Washington in 1991.  She had been an administrate aide for 18 years for Sen. James A. McClure, R-Idaho. 

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies of the Elks.  

Faye Neville

Lena Faye Hebb Taylor Neville, 95 years a resident of the Nesbitt Personal Care Home of Hendricks, and a former resident of Fairmont, departed this life Easter Sunday, April 8, at Hendricks.

She was born Friday, April 28, 1911 at Tunnelton, Preston County, a daughter of the late Solomon Elsworth Hebb and Alice Maude Thomas. 

She was twice married, first to Ira Gordon Taylor, who preceded her in death during 1946 and second to Lester W. “Dutch” Neville, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two brothers; Harry Hebb and wife Donna Marie of Buckhannon and Charles Hebb and wife Christine of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by four brothers; Al Hebb, Guy Hebb, Russ Hebb and John Hebb and four sisters; Helen Miller, Mabel Fekete, Ethel Agnes Thawley and Blanche Manuell.

She attended the schools of Preston County. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Preston County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, April 11 from 4 until 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Eli Hostetler will officiate and interment will follow at the Layton Cemetery at Preston County. Mary J. Staron

Mary Jane Staron, 96, of Davis passed away April 6,  at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.

She was born Dec. 13, 1910, at Coketon, a daughter of the late John and Caroline Lorenc Staron.

She is survived by one sister, Pauline and husband Roy Sparks of Falls Church, Va.; one nephew, Tom Staron and wife Diane of Belmont; and nine other nephews and nieces, Frank Jr., Jack and Bob Staron, John, Caroline and Larry Sparks, Sue Sanders, Mary Staryak and Pat Walsh; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Frank Staron; and three sisters, Dorothy Staron, Josephine Walsh and Sophie Lewis.

She was a graduate of Thomas High School, class of 1930 and Morgantown Commercial College. Ms. Staron was employed for 30 years as a secretary for Davis Coal and Coke and for 20 years at the West Virginia Department of Corrections, Davis Center.  She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was an active member of the Thomas Women’s Club.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Monday, April 9  from 5 to 8 p.m. and a Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 10  at 10 a.m. at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment followed in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Dreams, c/o Cortland Acres Nursing Home, HC 60, Box 98, Thomas, WV 26291. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Philip West 

Philip J. West, 86, of Kearney [NE] died Tuesday, April 3, at his residence. 

He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Philadelphia to Johnson and Laura Anderson West.  HE grew up in Troy, Ohio.  He was married to Virginia Spring in Tampa, Fla, on March 15, 1943.  

Survivors include his sons James of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Thomas of Greeley, Co.; daughters, Natalie G. Radcliffe of Kearney and Laura Morton of Jasper, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren also survive him.

His wife, one granddaughter and one sister preceded him in death.

He attended Wittenberg College in Ohio.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II.  He worked for the chamber of commerce in many cities.  

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. His hobbies included being an avid model railroader.

His body was donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.  Memorial services will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday,  April 11, 2007 at Wel-Life, in Kearney.
