Leroy Mallow

Leroy Mallow, 47, of Red Creek, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006, in West Penn Burn Center at Pittsburgh, Pa., from injuries sustained in an accident.

He was born Aug. 22, 1958 in Harman, a son of the late Roy Hercule Mallow (1997) and Sylvia Jean Davis Mallow of Red Creek.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Mallow of Red Creek; two sisters, Peggy and husband John McBee of Red Creek, and Bonnie and husband Larry White also of Red Creek; one sister-in-law, Christina Mallow; three nephews, Kevin McBee, Logan White and Warren Mallow; and three nieces, Jenny McBee, Emily White and Marjorie Mallow.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy “June” Mallow Jr.

LeRoy was employed with his father by Mallow Construction until 1997 and then with W&R Contractors as a carpenter. He attended the Riverside Mennonite Church and he was a member of Mountain Top Hunt Club.

Friends will be received at  Hinkle Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 27, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Buena Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  

Payton & Price Nestor

Payton and Price Nestor, of Beckley, infant twins of Liza and Paul Nestor, entered into rest April 20, 2006.

Those left to cherish their memory include their parents; one brother, Wesley Nestor; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary Winger of Ocala, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Ann and Pat Nestor of Cox’s Mills; maternal great-grandparents, Felipa and Jesus Martinez of Texas and Marjorie and Lloyd VanDorn of Iowa; paternal great-grandmothers, Muriel Nestor of Parsons and Betty Hershberger of Ashland, Ky.; several aunts, uncles and one cousin.

They were preceded in death by paternal great-grandparents, Harold “Hen” Nestor and Harold Hershberger; and maternal great-grandfather, Marvin Ward Winger.

Harry Powlus

Harry Martin Powlus, 80, of Alexandria, Va., passed away Sunday, April 23, in Greenville Memorial Hospital at Greenville, S.C.

He was born Dec. 19, 1925, at Nescopeck, Pa., a son of the late Thomas William and Ethel Dawson Powlus.  His wife, Coleen Mosser Powlus, preceded him in death

He is survived by four daughters, Cindy Blake of Alexandria, Va., Louann and Mick Slaubaugh of Horse Show Run, Bridget and Marvin Nix of Pickens, S.C., and Julie and Hank Ryker of Pickens, S.C.; two brothers, Tom and Richard Powlus, both of Nescopeck, Pa.; four sisters, Nancy Lupishunski of Berwick, Pa., Jolene Lupishunski of Nescopeck, Pa., Carolyn DeMarco of Berwick, Pa., and Joan Baer of Nescopeck, Pa.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one great-grandson.

Mr. Powlus was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as the Deputy Director of Naval Records. He was an avid fisherman and Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at at Hinkle Funeral Home of Davis on Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at Hinkle Funeral home on Friday, April 28 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Texas Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 3711 Morgantown Industrial Park, Morgantown, W.Va. 26501. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
