Ruth Allman

Ruth Lucille Simmons Allman, 88, of Eglon, passed away April 22, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1921 in Accident, Md., a daughter of the late Thomas Dewey Simmons and Lena Belle Bennett Simmons. Her husband Cline Allman, preceded her in death in 1974.

She is survived by one son Cline Allman Jr. of Canaan Valley; three daughters Betty Kisamore of Reedsville, Maggie Eye of Painesville, Ohio and Wanda Burns of Sterling, Va.; one sister Cleo Frederick of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons John and Hilbert Allman; and three brothers, Russell, Robert, and Kermit Simmons.

Mrs. Allman was a cook and housewife. She was protestant by faith.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Friday, April 24 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rogers Fike officiating. Interment followed in Buena Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Bennett

Charles Roy "Charlie Brown" Bennett, 75, of Red Creek, died April 20 at Akron City Hospital, Akron, Ohio.

He was born June 20, 1933 in Red Creek, a son of the late Roy Helmick and Freddie Ellen Bonner Bennett.

He is survived by his wife Brenda West Bennett of Red Creek; three daughters Cindy Bennett of Ravenna, Ohio, Shirley Plum of Hambleton and Ginger Bennett of Oak Hill; two sons Charles Bennett Jr. of Ravenna, Ohio and Hoyle West Jr. of Red Creek; a step-son Hoyle Lawrence West II of Ravenna, Ohio; one sister Sarah Jane and Les Spier of Red Creek; seven grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister Grace Thompson. Charles lived in Kent, Ravenna, Mantua and Cleveland areas in Ohio before moving back to Red Creek. While in Ohio, he was selfemployed at Acme Machine and Borring, and then employed as a machinist at Savage Machine in Garfield Heights. Charles enjoyed flying, animals, being around people, working on cars and motorcycles.

Friends were received Friday, April 24 at Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 25 at Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Gadd officiating. Interment followed in Flanagan Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Nancy Cutright

Nancy Ann Cutright, 57 of Huntington, slipped quietly into heaven after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday April 22 at the home of her best friend, Terri Effingham.

She was born Feb. 3, 1952 in Clarksburg.

She was preceded in death by her father James Philip Cutright; her paternal grandparents J.M. and Blanche Ferguson Cutright; her maternal grandparents French H. and Kate Keister Raines.

She is survived by her mother Dorothy Raines Cutright; two sisters Linda and her husband Jody Eddins and Sue Howland; her nephews Jacob Eddins, Joe Eddins and his fiancée Erin Yeager all of Huntington and Tyler Eddins and his wife Jessie and babyNoah all of Cork, Ireland.

She is also survived by two aunts Virginia Raines of Red Creek, who was like a mother to her, and Doris Cutright of Roanoke, Va., several cousins and her beloved golden retriever Gabby.

Nancy graduated from Huntington East High School in 1970. She graduated from Marshall University with a BA in Health, Physical Education and English; she also earned a MA from Marshall University in Secondary Education. She spent her career at Beverly Hills Junior High Middle School from 1975- 2001. As a coach of girls’ volleyball and tennis, Nancy was known as a great competitor and had numerous county championships. At Beverly Hills, Nancy appreciated and enjoyed her working relationship and friendship with Coach Don Lucas.

Nancy was a faithful member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, the former Highlawn United Methodist Church for 53 years. She enjoyed the fellowship as a member of the Elizabeth Circle and served on numerous committees of the church. Painting with the "Praise Painters" brought great joy to Nancy, not to mention the beautiful art work she created and gave away so others could enjoy.

Nancy also found pleasure in giving back to her community by volunteering in the Hospice Gift Shop and the Hope Food Pantry. The family would like to thank

the many friends and neighbors for their love, prayers and expressions of concern during this difficult journey and a special thank you to her caregivers who were like angels to Nancy. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington or the charity of ones choice.

The family gathered and greeted friends on Saturday April 25 at 4 p.m. at the Community of Grace Church (former Highlawn United Methodist Church) 28th Street and 3rd Avenue, a Celebration of Nancy’s Life was held at 5 p.m. with a reception following. Lana Cyrus 

Lana L. Cyrus, 67, of Nitro passed away Saturday at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston after a short illness.

Lana lived most of her life in Nitro and was a Protestant. She was a retired office clerk for the WVDHHR. Lana was a member of the Public Health Association.

Lana was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Cyrus; daughter Vicki Lea Cyrus; parents Larry and Dorine Allinder; and brother Scott Allinder. Lana was the last immediate member of her family.

Surviving are companion Guy Smith of Nitro; aunt and uncle Marijane and Alan Martin of Parsons, uncle Earl "Mutt" Delaney and his wife Becky of Parsons. Also surviving several other cousins and a host of many friends.

Also a special friend Deborah Elzey of South Charleston. Services were Tuesday April 28, at 1 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel 2002- 20th St., Nitro with the Rev: Benny Pauley officiating. Burial followed the services in Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans. Friends were received Tuesday April 28, from 11 a.m. till service time at the Funeral Home.

Margaret Harper

Margaret Joanne Harper, 80, of Thomas passed away due to heart failure April 22 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Nov. 30, 1928 in Thomas, a daughter of the late Lee Otto Pase and Elizabeth Swartz Pase.

She is survived by three sons Donald Thomas Harper of Mt. Morris, Pa., Daniel

Harper of Wilmington, Del. and Mark (Diane "Dee") Harper of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; one daughter Brenda K. Beaulieu, N.H.; one brother James Lee Pase of Oakland, Md.; two half-brothers Dwayne Pase of Clinton, Md. and David Pase of Thomas; one sister Eloise Udovich of Oakland, Md.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son Terry Lee in 1998; one half-brother Russell Hamner; and one halfsister Carol Pase Zorb.

Ms. Harper was a homemaker.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Sunday, April 26 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 27 at 11 a.m. with Diane "Dee" Harper officiating. Interment followed in Rose

Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Liller

Charles Richard Liller, 86 of Mountain Lake Park, Md. died Saturday, April 25, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1922 in Bayard, a son of the late Richard and Mabel (Conaway) Liller.

Mr. Liller retired from the State of West Virginia, Canaan State Park. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Surviving is his wife Alice Elizabeth (Parks) Liller of Mountain Lake Park; three sons Ashley Liller of Montanna, Calvin Liller of Mt. Storm and Bruce Liller of Morgantown; three daughters Connie Auvil of Florida, Cathy Neubert of Grantsville,

Md. and Susan Oliver of Davis; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family received friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, Md. on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Skipper officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Betty Rydzewski

Betty Rydzewski, 83, of Rowlesburg, passed away Thursday, April 23 at Preston Memorial Hospital with loving family by her side.

She was born May 18, 1924, a daughter of the late George and Elva Olie Schrock Lipscomb.

Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a packer for the A&P Tea Company.

She is survived by her two daughters Sandra Turner of Rowlesburg and Connie Judy and spouse Charles of Bayard; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Theodore Rydzewski; a son Phillip Ray Sisler; seven brothers Robert George, Lee, Alonzo, Alfred, Johnny and Vander Lipscomb; and two sisters Lela Uphold and Hazel Fulton.

Family and friends were received at Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel in Rowlesburg on Saturday, April 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services were conducted on Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Edward Rockwell officiating. Lora Wolfe

Lora Mae Shahan Wolfe, 94, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of Colonial Place at Elkins, departed this life early Monday April 27, at Colonial Place.

She was born Saturday, May 30, 1914 at Texas Mt., St. George a daughter of the

late Troy Shahan and Pearl Harsh Shahan. She was united in marriage to Forest Dale Wolfe, who preceded her in death Jan. of 1977.

Surviving are two sons Gerald L. Wolfe and wife Carol of Montrose and Lonnie C. Wolfe and wife Susan of Elkins; one daughter Patty R. Henrie and husband Bill of Williamstown; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wolfe Dentler and husband Don of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren Elaine, Risha, Greg, Lisa, Chris and Tonya; nine great- grandchildren, Betsy, Emily, Maggie, Courtnee, Kylie, Samantha, Madison, Allison and Lauren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one son Allen Dale Wolfe.

She attended the one room school at Texas Mt. She was a member of the Pifer United Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons.

She and her husband owned and operated the family farm at Pifer Mt. for many years.

She was an avid gardener.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home at Parsons from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. Pastor Allen Dale Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mt. Cemetery at St. George. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Lora Mae Shahan Wolfe. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
