Cleve Bonner

Cleve Bonner, 73, of Dry Fork, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 13, 1932, at Dry Fork, a son of the late Albert and Strawdie Huffman Bonner.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in August 1988, Doris Arbogast Bonner, whom he married in September 1952. On Dec. 31, 1996, he married Mildred Wolford Bonner, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael and wife Rebecca Bonner, and Carl and wife Peggy Bonner, both of Dry Fork; two daughters, Joyce and husband Ernest Burky, of Wheeling and Cathy Bonner of Dry Fork; two step-children, Cheryl and husband Jeff Judy, of Dry Fork and Kenneth Brown of Scio, Ohio; one brother, Dave and wife Sherry Bonner and their two sons, Adam and Travis, of Dry Fork; one sister, Helen Mass of Warren, Ohio; six grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa and Jennifer Burky, Marcus and wife Elizabeth Bonner, and Autumn and Jeff Bonner; one great-grandchild, Sheridan; and two step-grandchildren Whitney and Olivia Judy.

Mr. Bonner owned and operated Bonner Lumber Co. since 1972. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time with family and friends. He was a member of Dry Fork Assembly of God Church.

Friends were received at Dry Fork Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, May 9 from 6 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 10,  at 11 a.m. at the Dry Fork Assembly of God with Sister Alice Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonner Family Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  

Margaret Clendenin

Margaret "Peggy " Beery Clendenin of Cross Lanes passed away in February after a short illness. 

She was born May 14, 1928, in Washington D.C., and grew up in Parsons.  Peggy retired from West Virginia State college as a Continuing Education Director.  She was a CumLaude graduate of WV State College with a degree in Business administration and continued her education in counseling at the college of Graduate Studies. 

Peggy was best known for her tireless volunteer work and her love for reading.  The Kanawha County chapter of "Read Aloud West Virginia" recognized her contributions by awarding her the Outstanding  Read Aloud volunteer for 2005.  WSAZ-TV also recognized her for community service and presented the "Hometown Hero" award to her in 2005 for her many hours of tutoring students from elementary through college. 

Peggy is survived by two sons, Lyle (Beverly) of Nitro, Keith (Della) of Cross Lanes, One brother, Fred (Pat) Beery of Parsons and one sister, Yvonne (James) Brown of Wooster, Ohio, five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Virginia Demskie 

Virginia "Tootie" Demskie, 73, of Rockton, Pa., passed away at Dubois Hospital on April 30. 

She is survived by three daughters Karen and mark Jones of Parsons, Diane Demskie of New York, Virginia L. Demskie of new York; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother Ruben and Dora Barb Jr. of Parsons; one sister Dorothy and Edward Maditz of Clarksburg. 

She was preceded in death by her husband George; her father Ruben Barb Sr.; her mother Icie Barb; one brother Jmaes; and one sister Martha. 

Funeral services were conducted on May 4 at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., Dubois, Pa.  Interment followed at Rockton Cemetery.  

Leona Evans

Leona Elizabeth Evans, 75, of Leadmine Run, passed away May 7, at her residence. 

She was born Sept. 7, 1930 in Pierce, a daughter of the late Wade henry and mary Elizabeth Burch Lansberry. 

She is survived by her husband Charlie Evans of Leadmine Run; one daughter Sussie Schadewald of Leadmine Run; sone son Charles and wife Martha Schadewald of Chesapeake, Va.; 2 sisters Midgie Garner of Virginia Beach, Va. and Ilene and Herman Tompkins of Laadmine run; six grandchildren Nicole and Joshua Hall, Naomi and Michael Ware, paril Scott and Shawn Cosner, seven great-grandchildren; Angel, Natasha, Michaelia, Julian, Emilie, Kye, Kyriah, nine step-children and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Harold Schadewald Sr., one sister Margaret Lansberry; and three brothers Bussie, Paul and John Lansberry.

Mrs. Evans was a homemaker.  She attended Brights Chapel Church.  

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, on Wednesday, May 10, from 2 to 9 p.m.  funeral services will be held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel  on Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Neil Parsons officiating.  Interment will follow in rose Hill Cemetery.  Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
