C.P.O Michael Bright ![]()
C.P.O Michael Lynn Bright, U.S. Navy, Retired, age 48 years, a resident of the Pheasant Run community, departed this life Sunday evening, May 14, at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. He had been in declining health.
He was born Aug. 12, 1957, at Parsons, a son of the late Harold Gene
“Squeak” Bright and Nettie Genevie Loughry Bright Lipscomb and his
stepfather Randolph Lipscomb, who survive.
He was formerly married to Mary Alice Haer, Helen Heartlove and Michelle Stout,
who survive.
Also surviving are one daughter, Misty Dawn Ritter and husband Mike of Bretz; three brothers, James Patrick “Pat” Bright and wife Vickie of Pifer Mountain, Mark Allen Bright and Paul Keith Bright and wife Marlene all of Pheasant Run; and one granddaughter Laylah Dawn Ritter of Bretz.
Preceding him in death besides his father was one sister Pauletta Kay Canfield.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1975. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving twenty years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to search for mushrooms. He was a member of the National Riffle Association and was a noted antique collector. He was affiliated with the Irons Chapel Church and the caretaker of the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, May 18, at 11 a.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War will conduct full military rites. Norma Thompson
Norma Jean Thompson, age 64 years, a resident of Parsons departed this life Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. she had been in declining health for the past year and a half.
She was born Wednesday, May 6, 1942, at Clarksburg, a daughter of the late James R. Thompson and Ethel Starr Thompson.
Surviving are two sons James Arthur Thompson and wife Mary of Parsons and Robert Edward Thompson and wife Janet Lynn of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren James Arthur Thompson Jr., and Joshua Scott Thompson, both of Parsons and Nicholas Charles Thompson of Pennsylvania.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother Cylde J. Thompson.
She attended the schools of Harrison county. She was a homemaker and attended the First United Methodist church at Parsons. She enjoyed walking.
Miss Thompson's wishes for cremation were honored. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Tucker County Senior Center, 206 Third Street, Parsons, WV. 26287. Carney White
Carney Mitchell White, age 55 years, a resident of Heavener Acres, Elkins, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, May 10, 2006, at his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Friday, June 16, 1950, at Elkins, a son of the late Charlie Levi White and Genevieve Marcella White. He was formerly married to Schonna Phillips White, who survives at Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Lorren Junior “J.R.” Sturms and Michael Shane White, both of Elkins; two daughters, Nancy G. Yokum and Sherry M. White, both of Elkins; two brothers, Charles Glenn “Spider” White and wife Hilda of Parsons and David Allen White and wife Ann of Philippi; one sister, Carolyn White Plum and husband Jack of Hambleton; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were one daughter, Tammy Lynn Taylor; and one brother, Michael Sullivan “Hairbear” White.
He attended the schools of Tucker and Randolph counties, was a pipeliner for the River’s Construction Company of Texas and was a Truck Driver for West Virginia Paving. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a great love for animals.
Friends were received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Saturday, May 13, from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Kevin Gainer officiated and cremation followed. Interment will follow at a later date at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Carney Mitchell White.
