Delcie Ashby

Delcie Agnes Vance Ashby, age 91 years, a resident of Parsons and more recently a resident of the Colonial Place at Elkins, departed this life Thursday morning, May 18, 2006, at Colonial Place. She had been in declining health.

She was born Thursday, June 4, 1914, at Hacker’s Valley, a daughter of the late George Vance and Alcie Cowger Vance.  On May 5, 1934, at St. George, she was married to Howard Wesley Ashby, who preceded her in death March 21, 2006.

Surviving are one son, Dale Ashby and wife Elnor of Parsons; one daughter, Patty Ann Wotring and husband Ray of the Blackman Flats community; one sister, Ruth Teets of Oakland, Md.; five grandchildren, Kathy, Steve, John, Jeff and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother Clay Vance; and one sister Elsie Vance.

She attended the schools of Webster and Randolph Counties. She was a homemaker and attended the Parsons Church of God.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, May 20  from 6 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, May 21, at 1 p.m. The Reverend Eli Hostetler officiated and interment followed at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Hospice Care Corp., 929 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, WV. 26241 or the charity of your choice. Quentin E. Justice 

Quentin Enos Justice, age 84 years, a resident of St. George, departed this life Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2006, at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center at Clarksburg. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Saturday, Aug. 20, 1921, at Dry Fork, a son of the late Alonzo Justice and Rosetta Carr Justice.  During August 1941, he was married to Summa Gladys Fridley Justice, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Martha Rosetta Hardesty and husband James of Ellsworth, Ohio; three grandchildren, Vicki Vitullo of Austintown, Ohio, James Hardesty of Ellsworth, Ohio, and Michael Hardesty of Austintown, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Nichole Vitullo
and Louie Vitullo of Austintown, Ohio.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1940. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.  He was a former employee and retired from the Monongahela Power Plant in Kingwood. He was a member of the Eagles Club or Kingwood, the Isaac Walton League and the Preston Masonic Lodge #90 of Kingwood.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Paul Christianson of the Elkins Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses was the presider. Mr. Justice’s request for cremation will be honored and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at a later date. Ashley Lipscomb

Ashley Lynette Lipscomb, 19, a beautiful young butterfly who had just gotten her wings to fly has flown with her angels to heaven on Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2006, at the Tucker Community Care Center at Parsons shortly after being admitted. Death was sudden and unexpected.

She was born Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1986, at Elkins, a daughter of Keith Allen Lipscomb and Sheila Faye Canfield Lipscomb, who survive at St. George.

Also surviving are one brother, Joshua Allen Lipscomb of St. George, whom she loved dearly and her maternal grandparents; Charles Lee Canfield and Linda Yvonne Carr Canfield of Pheasant Run, Shavers Fork.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Elmer V. Lipscomb and Charlotte R. Zoffel Lipscomb.

She was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 2004. She attended Alderson-Broaddus College and had completed her second year of nursing and she was resident assistant. She was a member of the National Nurse Association. Her goal in life was to help others and was considering becoming a pediatric nurse because of her love of children. She was a member of the American Red Cross 'Hero' club, and often donated her hair to the Locks of Love. She was a member of the Alpha Beta Nu Student (A.B.N.) Nurses Association and the Lambda Sigma Phi sorority, which she enjoyed and loved. She attended the St. George United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Society.  She enjoyed being involved with community activities. She was well loved by all to whom her heart touched.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday, May 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons and the Reverend J. Michael Lantz officiated and interment followed at the Kalar Cemetery at Shavers Fork. Kenneth Wingfield Sr.

Kenneth Fred Wingfield Sr., 69, a native of Tucker County and a resident of Valley Bend, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 16, 2006, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Tuesday, May 4, 1937, at Kerens, a son of the late Fredrick Henry Wingfield and Irene Allender Wingfield. On June 7, 1957, at Parsons, he was married to Ruby Mae Carr, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Kenneth Fred Wingfield Jr. and wife Barbara of Adolph; five daughters, Kathy Marlene Wingfield of Buckhannon, Donna Darlene Hintz and husband Jay of Dunbar, Betty Maria Arnold of Pheasant Run, Kimberly Sue Jones and husband James of Quinwood, and Mary Lynn Gunnoe and husband Vic of Kenna; one sister, Ruth Wingfield of Elkins; one half sister, Pearl Wingfield Stewart of Elkins; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were one son, Michael Wayne Wingfield; two brothers, Howard and Buddy Wingfield; five half brothers, Charles, Gar, Walter, Leroy and Henry Wingfield; and two half sisters, Louise Wingfield and Violet Hardy.

He attended the Petit School at Pheasant Run and had worked as a woodsman for Roscoe Nestor. He was a construction worker, drill operator and an oiler on cranes for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 132 at Clarksburg, was a loving husband and father, was an avid yard keeper and loved to play with his Jack Russell.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 to 8 p.m on Thursday, May 18. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday, May 19 2006 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gloria M. James Hanline

James Kenneth "Kenny" Haline, 67, of Oakland, Md., died Saturday, May 6, 2006, in the Garrett County Memorial Hospital. 

He was born July 26, 1938 at Aurora, a son of the late Earl A. and Ada Auvil Hanline. 

Surviving are two sons Terry and wife Pam. Hanline of Oakland, MD. and Brian Hanline of Baltimore, Md.; one brother Allen Hanline and wife Nancy of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters Wanda Paugh of Thomas and Betty Rummel of Parsons ; three grandchildren; and his companion Gerri Enlow of Oakland.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Janey Lew Malcomb Hanline. 

"Kenny" retired as a forman for Buffalo Coal Company. 

Funeral services were conducted on May 9 at the Burdock-Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, Md. with the Rev. Wally "Weeks officiating.  Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery.
