Lawrence Calcamp

Lawrence Lester Calcamp, 83, of Eglon, passed away May 22, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.

He was born Aug. 23, 1923, a son of the late Gus Lawrence and Lura Agnes Harsh Calcamp.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucy Wilhelm Calcamp; one daughter; three brothers; and three sisters. 

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. 

He was a lifelong farmer and attended Maple Grove Assembly of God Church. 

Funeral services were held on May 25 at Hinkle Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Accident Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. 

Robert Cangley 

Robert W. Cangley passed away at his recent home in Charlotte, N.C. following a courageous long battle with heart disease on May 23, at the age of 79 years.

He was born in Thomas the son of the late Augustus John and Dorothy Marie (Gross) CAngley on Nov. 10. 1927.  

He was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker CAtholic Church in Weirton, where he lived for 59 years and retired as a Superintendent for Shiappa Coal Company. 

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Bunny Lambruno; and his children Bob and wife Cynthia of Portland, Ore., Lori and husband Rick Backiel and Mike, all of Charlotte, N.C.; by his three grandchildren Courtney, Ryan and Jordan, by his sister Mary Ann and husband Ed Quattro of Mentor, Ohio; and his brothers John and wife Betsy, and Don and wife Ann, all of Thomas.   

Bob will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dolly Liller and his brother Dick Cangley. 

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis.

Mabel Gross

Mabel Elizabeth Gross, 95, of Davis, died May 25, at her home following a long illness.

She was born Jan.22, 1912, in Davis, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Florence (Raines) King.  She married Cecil Wellington Gross, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia L. Klipp of Waynesboro, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Stephen A. Klipp of Waynesboro, Pa., Dr. David A. Klipp of Ann Arbor, Mich., Cecelia Klipp Rowland of Saint Louis, Mo., Cynthia L. Jones Osselborn of Irwin, Pa., Laura J. Klipp of New York, N.Y., Elizabeth Jones Cool of Waynesboro, Pa., Daniel W. Jones of North Huntingdon, Pa., and Melissa L. Klipp-Kaplan of Mendham, N.J.; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Jean Jones Nolfi; four brothers, Edgar King, Klaris King, Stelman King and Robert King; and an infant great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Gross was an accomplished pianist and accompanied the Tucker County Community Chorus for many years. She was the organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Davis for more than 20 years, and over the years many enjoyed her music at various restaurants in Canaan Valley. Mabel was first runner-up, several years ago, when she represented Tucker County in the Ms. Senior West Virginia Pageant.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis on Sunday, May 27, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul Poerschke and the Rev. Allen Schwartz officiating. Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Davis Cemetery Fund of TCEF, PO Box 491, Parsons, W.Va. 26287 or St. John’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 21, Davis, W.Va. 26260. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  

Cyrus Humm

Cyrus Michael Humm, 8 weeks old, departed this life early Tuesday morning, May 22, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

He was born Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Buckhannon, a son of Shannon Lynn Humm, who survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Valhalla Michael Humm of Kerens; grandmother, Mary Ann Winters Humm of Harrisburg, Pa.; and his godfather, Brent Everson of Kerens.

Preceding him in death is his maternal grandfather, Charles Michael Humm.

Cyrus touched the lives of everyone who met him in his short time on earth. His strong personality was apparent even in his first days among us. He will be remembered with love and the blessing of knowing him will be forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life for Cyrus was held Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church at Parsons. Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiated. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Cyrus Michael Humm. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
