'Kip' Nestor

Clifford “Kip” Nestor, 75, a resident of Hendricks, and more recently a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, died June 16, at the home. He had been in declining health.

He was born Saturday, March 16, 1929, at St. George, the son of the late Porter Wade Nestor and Flodie Mae Roy Nestor.  On June 8, 1949, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Betty Phillips, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Larry Wade (and Connie) Nestor of Hendricks, Gary Wayne (and Janet) Nestor of Hambleton, and Jerry Clifford (and Melissa) Nestor of Hendricks; one daughter, Janet L. (and Lee) Mann of Williamsburg, VA.; two brothers, Russell Nestor of New Jersey and Murl “Honey” Nestor of Hendricks; one sister, Lucille Ball of Durango, CO; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great grandchild.

He attended the Mt. Zion and Hamrick Schools, had worked in construction and the sawmill business with his father. He was a truck driver, having worked for C&E Logging. retiring in 1991, was a member of the Ruritan Club, and attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons where final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor with the Rev. David Fuller officiating and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. 

Eula Kidd

Eula Marie Kidd, 85, formerly of Circleville, died June 15,  in Jacksonville, FL. 

She was born May 16, 1919 in Circleville, a daughter of the late Jacob and Minnie Arbogast Waybright. 

She is survived by four sons Clifford "Jim" Pennington of Thomas, Lewis and Leroy Pennington and Joseph Kidd all of Jacksonville, five daughters Lovenna Neal of Pennsylvania, Lucressia Carr of Balitmore, MD, Luvina Sones and Kathryn Singletary of Jacksonville, FL, Shirley Walker of Mt. Airy, MD; a sister Masil Yowl of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and a sister.

Mrs. Kidd was a homemaker.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home where funeral service were held at the Davis Church of God with the Rev. Larry Idleman officiating.  Interment followed in the Accident Cemetery.  

Betty Propst

Betty S. Propst, 81, of Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Frederick, MD, died June 19, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL.

Mrs. Propst was born Sept. 25, 1922 in Leadmine.

Surviving are a son Brent Propst of Winter Haven, FL; eight grandchildren Khristopher Roth, Skyler Roth, Tobe Propst, Dixie Montague, Amalia Zilavetz, Adam Propst, Joy Propst and Brent Propst Jr.; two great-granddaughters Jessica and Kayla Roth.

She was preceded in death by husband Mack J. Propst on July 26, 2000.

She was an executive secretary with the School Board of Frederick County Maryland.  She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick, United Methodist Women's Club, Order of Eastern Star in Frederick, Tall Cedars of Lebanon in Frederick and Lions Club in Middletown, MD

Friends were received at the Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale, FL where funeral services were held.

Frances Collins

Frances Mae Collins, 76, of King George, VA, died June 3.

She was born June 8, 1927 in Pierce, a daughter of the late Gladys and Clyde Drenning.  She was the widow of Sgt. 1st Class Franklin Alfred Collins.

She is survived by five daughters Shawn Elaine Land of Ladysmith, VA, Karen Kite of Thomas, Christine Lester of Thomas, "Bitsy" Jackson of Maryland, Helen Grupp of Thomas; a son Frank Collins Jr of Washington; a daughter-in-law Myrtle Cash; a brother Jimmy Drenning of Davis; and three sisters Judy Goldstein of Davis, Maveadelle Gardner and Patty Cegellis both of Florida.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Joyce Law and two sisters Margaret Adams and Edith McGuffin.

She attended the schools of Tucker County.

Mrs. Collins was cremated with no service.  The Storke Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hazel Armentrout

Hazel Ruth Armentrout, 93, a former resident of Tucker County and a resident of the Ashe Living Center at Jefferson, NC, died June 21 at the center.  She had been in declining health amd death was attributed to Alzheimer disease.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Friday, June 25 from 10 am - 11 am, the funeral hour.  Interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery, Parsons.
