Marie P. Cross
Marie P. Cross, 81, of Maybeury formerly of Elkins, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 6 at Welch Community Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Benbush, the daughter of the late Thomas H. Pennington and Nella Jennings Pennington. She resided in Klins for 35 years, and had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Maybeury for the past six years.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Linda Miller and husband Ronald C. Miller of Maybeury; one granddaughter, Beverly Addison and husband William of Conyers, Ga.; one grandson, Steven Miller and wife Penny of Oakvale; one great-grandson STeven P. Miller II of Oakvale; two great-granddaughters, Jenna R. Miller of Oakvale and Emily Addison of Conyers; one brother, William Pennington of Elkins; one sister, Ruthlyn Loughry, of Elkins: and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. “Bud” Cross in 1991; one brother Edward “Eddie” Pennington; two sisters, Carolyn A. Pennington Eidell and Sara Leeanna Pennington.
She was a member of the Irons Chapel United Methodist Church in Pheasant Run. She worked as a nursing home administrator at Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins until her retirement in 1992.
There was a funeral service Sunday, July 9, at 2 p.m. at the
Maybeury Church of God in Maybeury with the Rev. Ronald Miller officiating.
Friends were received one hour prior to the service. Additional services were
conducted Monday, July 10, at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in
Elkins at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Miller officiating. Friends were received
from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial followed in the cemetery.
Pallbearers were William Pennington, Steven Miller, William Addison, Tommy
Pennington, Steven Miller II, Ronald Miller Jr., Donald Schwartz, Kenny Bogart,
Scott Sizemore, John Sizemore and Ronnie Scott.
