Maxine Carr

Maxine Arbogast Carr, 82, formerly of Thomas, died July 25, at the residence of her daughter, Judy (and James) Rembold, in Upper Marlboro, MD, where she lived for 11 years.

She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Red Creek, the daughter of the late Eberry and Myrtle Mick Arbogast.  Her husband of 46 years, Cecil Carr, preceded her in death in 1988.

She is survived by five daughters, Judy (and James) Rembold of Upper Marlboro, MD, Cecelia (and Frank) Stauffer of Durham, NC, Nancy Beeler of Lothian, Md., Linda (and Jerry) Peterson of Spring Lake, NC, and Denise (and Tom) Reed of Knoxville, TN; a son, Joe (and Dina) Carr of Hartville, OH; two sisters, Mabel Gank of Oakland, MD, and Tina Long of Morgantown; a brother, Roy Arbogast of Oakland, MD; 20 grandchildren, (including a grandson serving in Afghanistan with the special forces); 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Harry and Richard Carr; and two stepdaughters, Doris Blanchard and Carol Shoemaker.

Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and formerly worked for Miners & Merchants Bank of Thomas.

Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis on Wednesday July 28 from 3 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Mark McCallister officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
