June E. Mason

June Elizabeth Reynolds Mason, 78, born in Martinsburg on June 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward Salisbury Reynolds and Clara Edwina Okell Reynolds, passed away on July 28, 2006 at her daughter’s and son-in-law’s home in Elkins. 

Her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) and Pastor David M. Collins along with a host of loving friends from church and community, have been lovingly caring and watching over her these past seven years while she resided in Elkins.  June was formerly from LaVale, Md., where she and her husband, the late Robert L. Mason raised their two surviving children, Robert L. Mason Jr., who lives in Cedar Creek, Texas, and Rebecca J. Collins of Elkins.

While in LaVale, June worked for and retired after 28 years as a head cashier with Sears. She was also a choir director for a combined 20 years in the Park Place United Methodist Church and, Grace Community Church. Throughout her years of service for the Lord she played the piano and sang in the gospel trio. Her husband, Robert, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and she a member of the Eastern Star.

June is survived by her two children, Robert (Robby), who married Tina B. and gave her three grandchildren: Nikka L., who married Sam Myers (no children yet), Robert T. (unmarried) and Jacob L. (unmarried), Rebecca (Becky) married David and gave her three more grandchildren: Gabriel (Gabe), who married Jesse and gave her one great grandchild, Elizabeth, Daniel (Danny), who married Holly and gave her two more great grandchildren, Haley and Hannah, and Rachel, who married Ryan McCart (no children yet).

June was the youngest of 12 children, six boys and six girls. Nine have gone on before her, Cedric, Wallace, Edward Jr. (Teddy), James, John ?Reynolds and Muriel Eastlack, , Ruth (Ruthie) Munsey, and Faith (Fay) McClain and her sister Joyce R. Keesee who died the day after June died.

She is survived by a brother,  the Rev. Forrest P. (and Mary Hancock) Reynolds of Rocky Mount, VA., and Jean (Jeannie) R. Scott of New Port News, VA, two sisters-in-law , Kay Reynolds and Barbara Reynolds, and numerous nieces and nephews. and their families including a niece, Barbara (Bobbie) Hooks of Zephyrhills, FL who was June's Age and much like a sister to her. 

We hope that you, as well, will join with us in praying for her and her family in this time of great sorrow.  

Visitation was held at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins on July 30.  The funeral service was held July 31 with her son-in-law officiating.   Burial followed in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg. 

Veronica J. Mosco

Veronica Josephine Mosco, 88, of Alexandria, VA, passed away July 25, in Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria, VA.

She was born Dec. 15, 1917, at Davis, a daughter of the late John and Anna Novak Mosco.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Earl Mary Moore of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Lee Mosco.

She worked as a crane operator during World War II in Baltimore, Md. She was then employed by and retired from Bendix Corporation as an assembly line supervisor. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at Saint Louis Catholic Church of Alexandria, Va. and also St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Thomas.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis on Thursday July 27 from 4 to 9 p.m.  A Rosary Service was held at 7 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Thomas on Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Mary G. Streets

Mary Gladys Streets, a resident of Rt. 2 Philippi Valley Furnace community, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006, in the Davis Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.  She was born June 7, 1921, at Location in Tucker County, a daughter of the late Nelson and Nora (Cassidy) Jones.  She was united in marriage to Robert Brown Streets, who preceded her in death in 1980.  Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Catherine Woods of Montrose and Peggy Sue and husband, Robert Hebb of Gassaway, her four sons, Charles and wife Dorothy Murphy of Parsons, Samuel Claude and wife Mary Lou Streets of Valley Furnace, Larry Streets of Parsons and Timmy Streets of Valley Furnace.  Also surviving are daughter-in-law Wanda Streets of Valley Furnace; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Streets was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Lewis and John Robert Streets. Mrs. Streets was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Mrs. Streets was homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Church of the Brethren.

Friends were received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi, on Saturday, July 29 from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, July 30 from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.  Speaker Lewis Bartlett officiated the service hour and interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery at St. George.
