Oliver Bohon
Oliver Jackson “Jack” Bohon, 66, departed this life Thursday afternoon,
Sept. 20, 2007, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was
attributed to cancer.
He was born Sunday, March 9, 1941, at St. George, a son of the late Streby
Wilfong and Edna May Bohon Wilfong. On May 16, 1985, at Hambleton, he was
married to the former Donna Darlene Varner, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Christopher Lee Bohon of Parsons; one daughter,
Samantha Elizabeth Bohon of Morgantown; and one stepdaughter, Melissa Lynn
Johnston of Parsons.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in
death by four brothers, Elza V. Bohon, William Edward “Mose” Bohon, John
Allen Bohon and Richard Lee Bohon; and one sister, Margaret Bohon.
He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a member of First Baptist
Church of Parsons. He was a devoted Christian and he loved to read.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on
Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour. Pastor Allen D.
Crosten will officiate and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery at
Parsons. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for

Troy Shoemaker ![]()
Troy Ray Shoemaker, 86, of Rt. 4., Grafton, passed away on Sunday, Sept 23 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1921 in tucker County, a son of the late Alice Shoemaker.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee (Rutherford) Shoemaker; three children Teresa Lee cCark and husband David Clark of Mt. Hermon, La., Ester Sharon Spiker of Grafton and Theodore Ray Shoemaker and wife, Rebecca of Balclutha, New Zealand; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother Lester "Bus" Shoemaker and wife Mary of Blakely, Ga.; one sister Ethel Tongue of Chiefland, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a retired fireman for the B&O Railroad Company for seventeen years and was alter employed at the Woolen Mills in Parsons, and was last employed at the Older American Program also in Parsons. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church for over 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army for five years and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home and he will be interred in the WV National Cemetery at Pruntytown. A memorial service for Mr. Shoemaker will be conducted in about one month at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness Church.
