Richard Dumire
Richard Keith Dumire, 84 of Elkins passed away Oct. 3 at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1925 in Horse Shoe Run, a son of the late Charlie Walter and Mary Henline Dumire.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Eula Yvonne Dumire; one son Richard Allen Dumire of Elkins; three daughters Ella Mae Dumire (Jerry) of New Castle, Pa., Janet L. (David) Canfield of Gilman and Shirley Thomas of Aurora; one step-son Johnny Border and two stepdaughters Reva (Gary) Wyatt and Debbie (JB) Kimble, all of Moundsville; one brother Odus Dumire and one sister Mildred Sturms, both of Elkins; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Buddy and Paul Dumire; four sisters Luzella Fike, Faith Dumire, Ruby Selders and Pauline Leary; two granddaughters, two nephews; and two nieces.
Richard loved working with the Parsons Fire Department. He enjoyed camping with family and friends. He always loved being a father and his kids always came first. God is getting a real good man.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 5 at Hinkle Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Walter Blough officiating. Interment followed in the Accident Cemetery at Eglon. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement
Mabel Gould
Mabel Gould, 85, of Davis, died Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was born Oct. 17, 1923 in Benbush, a daughter of the late Albert Enos Knotts and Tenie Grace Knotts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Gould.
She is survived by three sons William Gould and Alan (and Cheryl) Gould both of Boston, Mass. and Robert B. Gould of Davis; two brothers Howard Knotts of Biloxi, Miss. and Albert “Bud” Knotts of Fla.; five grandchildren Jennifer, Corey, Kim, Jason and Kerry Ann; great-granddaughter Micah and several other great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gould was a member of Davis United Methodist Church, the Rebekahs and Walter Chapter #43 OES.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment followed at Stemple Ridge Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Phyllis Winans
Mrs. Phyllis Arlene Winans, 59, a resident of 204 Hice Street in Belington, departed this life early Saturday morning, Oct. 3 at her home. She had been in declining health for quite sometime but death was unexpected.
She was born April 19, 1950 in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Harlen Snyder and Connie Lucille Waggy Sommerville.
Survivors include her loving husband of 15 years Richard M. Winans of Belington; one daughter Michelle Ramsey and husband James of Elkins; three sons Brad Ward and wife Angie of Parrish, Fla., Christopher Lewis of Hampton, Va. and Larry E. Lewis and wife Tracy of Winterville, N.C.; one brother Henry Waggy of Elkins; one sister Renee Mick and husband Tom of Hambleton; four grandchildren Landon and Blake Lewis and Dallas and Morgan Ward; and her mother-in-law Maretia Mollohan of Belington.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Harlen R. Snyder. Phyllis had many interests.
She enjoyed camping, decorating her yard and traveling down country roads with her mother. She loved playing cards with her friends Margie Winans and Chris and Lowell Lambert. She was a homemaker, attended the schools of Randolph County and was Protestant by faith.
Friends were received from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 at the Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg Street in Belington and again on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the funeral hour when final rites were conducted at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Arden Beck officiating. Interment followed in the Talbott Cemetery near Belington. These arrangements were placed in the care of the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington.
