Robert Sponaugle

Robert Paul “Pinky” Sponaugle, 48, a resident of the Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, departed this life Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at his home. He had been in declining health, however, death was unexpected.

He was born Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1957, at Morgantown, WV., a son of Paul William “Coon” and Lela Lorraine “Pinky” Phillips Sponaugle, who survive.  On July 28, 1984, at Parsons, he was married to the former Minnie Mae Thomas, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Fallon Ashley Henline and husband Joshua of Parsons and Katelyn Marie Sponaugle of Holly Meadows; one brother, Steven Allen “Dee” Sponaugle of Holly Meadows; one sister, Judy Lynn Stansberry and husband William Franklin II “Dub” of Mount Sidney, Va.; one granddaughter, Joshalynn Nichelle Henline of Parsons; one nephew, Steven Paul Sponaugle of Holly Meadows; four nieces, Brittnay Renee and Holly Faye Stansberry, both of Mount Sidney, Va., Kandice Lee Sponaugle of Holly Meadows and Destaney Hope Wilson of Hambleton; and several aunts and uncles.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1975. He attended Potomac State College. He worked for the former Bishoff’s Exxon of Parsons for nineteen years. 

At the time of his death was an officer with the West Virginia Children’s Home of Elkins. He attended the Church of God at Parsons. He was a noted mechanic and was always helping others. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family and his girls.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, Oct. 12, at noon. The Rev. Eli Hostetler and Pastor Carolyn Shreve will officiate and interment will follow at Bright Chapel Cemetery at Dry Fork. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Robert Paul “Pinky” Sponaugle. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
