Orville L. Carr ![]()
Orville Lee Carr, 72, of Thomas, passed away Oct. 9, 2006, as a result of a farming accident.
He was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Elk, a son of the late Clifton Joseph Carr and Mary Ethel Cooper Carr.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Vandevender Carr; three sons, Harry and Teresa of Thomas, Terry and Roxanna of Elkins, and Jimmy and Denise of Harrisonburg, Va.; two brothers, Harold and Frank Carr, both of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Thelma Fowler of Ridgely; six grandchildren, Moriah, Misty, Brandi, Lee Allan, Chelsey and Makenzie.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Alfred and Roy; and one sister, Pauline Heater.
Mr. Carr was retired from Cortland Acres Nursing Home as a maintenance worker. He was a veteran of the US Army, a life member of the NRA and was a Methodist by faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Wednesday Oct. 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Martin officiating. Interment followed in the Brights Chapel Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lambert
Robert Scott Lambert, 51, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather, who was loved by everyone that knew him, passed away on Oct. 16, at his home in Pierce.
He was born July 30, 1955, a son of Robert Dale and Jeanette Christine Scott Lambert, who survive at Thomas.
He is survived by his wife Marianne Fink Lambert of Pierce; two sons Scott of Grove City, PA. and Adam of Buckhannon; one daughter, Kelly and Doug Heater of Bridgeport, one brother Ted "Mush" Lambert of Thomas; three sisters Linda Nichols of Thomas, Cindy Snyder and Penny Kidwell of Parsons; one grandson Samuel David Heater, his fther-0 and mother-in-law Don and Mary Fnik of Clarksburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a motorcycle Enthusiast.
At the request of the deceased, he was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 at the First Presbyterian Church of Thomas at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Leonard Hood officiating. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Douglas Wise
Douglas Michael Wise, 52, of Sand Springs Rd., Morgantown went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 132 at the Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born Jan. 1, 1954 in Morgantown, son of Douglas Lee and Helen Wise of Morgantown.
He is survived by his wife Sandra K. Warnick Wise; two daughters and spouses Jerica M. and Tim P. Trentini and Brandy J. and David A. Barbabella, all of Morgantown; six grandchildren Alex, Dylan, Andrew, Briana, David and Tyler, numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers and spouses Robert and Judy Wise, and Richard and Linda Wise; three sisters and spouses Diana and August Canale, Deloris and Rodney Gardner, and Debra and Steve Cottrell, all of Morgantown.
Michael was of the Methodist faith and was presently employed by American Homes on the Mileground as a park manger. He served with the Cheat Lake Volunteer Fire Department and worked for Consolidation Coal Company at Osage No. 3 for 18 years. He was a 1973 graduate of UHS. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Friends were received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Sunday, Oct. 15 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Sale officiating.
