Darl Arnold

Darl Everett Arnold, 79, of Parsons passed away on Oct. 16 at Davis Memorial Hospital. 

He was born Oct. 26, 1927 in Eglon, a son of the late Walter Early ARnold and Elsie Alice King.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Alice "Peggy" Arnold; one son Walter Arnold, both of Parsons; two sister Beulah Fogelman of Shreevesport, La. and Erma Smelser of Winchester, Va.; two grandchildren Ronnie E. and Brian Arnold; and one great-grandchild Jason Arnold. 

He was preceded in death by two sons Ronnie and Johnny Arnold; one brother Curtis E. Arnold; and three sisters Eva Seal, VElma Matthews and Vera Wilt. 

He was employed in the warehouse of local coal mines.  He was a faithful, dedicated member, deacon and trustee of Maple Grove Assembly of God Church, and was a member of UMWA.  He served his country in the Army in WWII, Pacific Campaign. 

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Robert J. Klier and Rev. Don Matthews officiating.  Interment followed in Accident Cemetery.  Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. 

Guy Ciarocco

Guy Victor "Rose" Ciarocco, 77, was called to be with the Lord on Oct. 10, in the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. 

He was born in Albert, W. Va. and graduated from Thomas High School.  He was a resident of Shalersville, Ohio until 2001 when he retired in Port Isabel, Texas.  He was a veteran of the Korean War. 

He is survived by his wife Joan Lawrence Ciarocco; his son Jeffrey Ciarocco; his daughters Beverly (and Michael) Dunlap, Vicki (and Armand) Rodriguez, and Natalie Ciarocoo; his grandhcildren Angela, Joy, Daniel, Samantha; Dana, Ahja, Justin and Amanda; his great-grandsons Logan and Daegon; his sisters Catherine Paszkiewicz of Baltimore, Md. and Eleanor James of Thomas; his brother-in-law, John (and Beverly) Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Casino Ciarocco; his father Angelo Ciarocco; his son Alan Ciarocco; his brother John Rose; and his sisters Emma Viole, Lillian Rammuno, Anna Mancini, Jessica LaBarca, Adeline Garner, and Rose Decker. 

A memorial service was held Sunday, Oct. 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Port Isabel, Texas.  

Harry Hebb

Harry Hebb, 85, of Buckhannon and formelry of Stonewood joined his father and mother, Solomon nd Alice Thomas Hebb in Heaven on Friday, Oct. 5. 

He was born March 6, 1922 in Tunnelton. 

He is survived by his wife Donna Marie Pase Hebb; his daughter Sandra Harden of Springfield, Mo.;' two sons Gerald Hebb of San Antonio, Texas and Gary Hebb of Anmoore; ten grandsons; six granddaughters; 34 great-grandchildren; ten great- great-grandchildren; one brother Charles Hebb and his wife Christine of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.  

Harry retired as Sergeant First Class from the United States Army with 24 years of service, serving during WWII and the Korean War, he received 12 medals from the military, including the Bronze Star and Distinguished Service Recognition. 

Family and friends were received at the Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport on Sunday, Oct. 7.  Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Miller (Harry's nephews) presiding.  Interment followed in WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where Military Funeral Honors were accorded.  

Gealdine Hubbard 

Geraldine Ellen Hubbard, 78, passed away Oct. 15 at her home in Thomas. 

She was born Jan. 10, 1929 in Sharples, a daughter of the late Samuel Preston Belt and Mabel Cyane Snodgrass. 

She is survived by husband George Enus Hubbard of Thomas; five sons George Samuel (and Judy Kay) Hubbard of St. Albans, Ricahrd E. (and Melody) Hubbard of Canal Fulton of Ohio, William Brian (and Kathelene) Hubbard of Thomas, Thomas Scott (and Connie) Hubbard of Magadore, Ohio and John Austin (and Rebecca) Hubbard of Thoams; three sister Kate Strayer of Kalamazoo, Mich, Alice Johnson of Aiken, S.C. and Ann Bandy of Mentor, Ohio; one nephew James Preston Belt of Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildrenand 13 great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by one brother Preston; two sisters Marie Arnold; an infant sister Joann; and one nephew James Belt. M

Mrs. Hubbard was affiliated with Jehovah Witness Church, Kingdom Hall, Oakland, Md.  She enjoyed spending time with her family. 

At the request of the deceased her remains were cremated.  Donations may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV  26250.  Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Pearl F. Pase

Pearl Faye Simmons Pase, 72, a resident of the Blackman Heights Community, Hambleton, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Thursday evening, Oct. 18, at the nursing home.

She was born Thursday, Nov. 8, 1934, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Martin Elliot Simmons, Sr. and Goldie Jane Baker.  On Oct. 23, 1952, at Red House, Md., she was married to Robert Norman Pase Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2007.

Surviving are one son, Robert Norman Pase Jr. and wife Deborah Lynn Hardy Pase of Yorktown, Va.; one daughter, Susan Gayle Pase Wamsley and husband Charles Edward “Fuzz” Wamsley Jr.; and seven grandchildren, James Scott Wamsley and wife Jessica of Hendricks, Robert Norman Pase III and wife Angenette of Yorktown, Va., Danya Rachelle Pase of Los Angeles, Calif., Lauren Michele Wamsley and Eric Todd Wamsley both of Hendricks, Katya Elizabeth Pase and Andrew Ruslan Pase both of Yorktown; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Scott Wamsley, Emma Baret Wamsley and Haden Michael Wamsley all of Hendricks and Sutton Mareanna Pase of Yorktown, Va.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, James Randal Pase; four brothers, James R. Simmons, Martin Junior Simmons, Elmer Richard Simmons and Wayne Robert Simmons; three sisters, Bonnie Elsie Pleasants, Helen Virginia Delk and Dorothy Dove Bonner; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1952. She worked as a personal assistant to Dr. Guy H. Michael Jr. and the former Tucker County Hospital at Parsons as a Lab and X-ray technician. She was a former secretary for the West Virginia Division of Highways. She was a nursing assistant to Mel Acosta, MD. She worked at Davis Memorial Hospital in the X-ray and Mammogram Department, and she worked for Ret Topping, MD. and Lucas Pavlovich MD., retiring in 2002.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons and Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. Howard Shaffer

Howard Shaffer, 84, a former resident of Tucker County and a resident of Port Orange, Fla., departed this life Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, at Port Orange, Fla.

He was born Friday, Nov. 9, 1923, at Kerens, a son of the late Lloyd Shaffer and Anna Nestor Shaffer.  On Feb. 15, 1947, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Eloise Flanagan, who survives. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage.

Also surviving are two brothers, Roy Shaffer of Bolivar, Ohio, and Guy Shaffer of Dover, Ohio; and two sisters; Hazel Phillips and Grace Gainer, both of Parsons.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Shaffer, Marvin Shaffer and Claude Shaffer; and two sisters, Mearl Johnson and Coleen Parks.

He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during World War II. He was an independent electrical and plumbing contractor. He was a former member of Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons and a member of the Steubenville, Ohio, Masonic Lodge. He was a Methodist by faith. He was an avid fisherman and bird hunter and was known and loved for his generosity.

A graveside service was conducted at Parsons City Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Anderson officiated and interment followed. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons was in charge of the arrangements for Howard Shaffer. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
