Thomas E. Adams

Thomas Edgar Adams passed away Oct. 24 at his home in Aurora.

He was born Marcy 16, 1927 in Aurora, a son of the late Jesse Cook Adams and Mary Thelma Teets.

HE is survived by wife Florence "Lois" Teets of Aurora; one son JOhn Thomas (and Elizabeth) Adams of AUrora and Bryan (and LInsay)Adams of Fairmont; two great-granddaughters AVeri and Madison; and one stp great-grandson, David. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers Jack and Jim; and one sister Sally Torno. 

Mr. Adams was affiliated with Yocum Masonic Lodge #897 F & A.M., Aurora United MEthodist Church, and Ougabus Saociety.  He was employed by Patriot Coal Co. and Garbart Construction. 

Friends were received at Aurora Memorial Building on Oct. 25 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services were held at Aurora United Methodist Church of Aurora on Friday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Debbie Friend officiating. Interment will follow in Aurora Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, W.Va. 26520 or Aurora United Methodist Church. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. 

George E. Bryan

George Edward Bryan, 76, a resident of St. George, departed this life late Monday, Oct. 29, at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center at Clarksburg. Death was attributed to a stroke.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for George Edward Bryan. Kenneth P. Hebb

Kenneth Perry Hebb, 84, a resident of St. George, departed this life Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital at Oakland, Md.

He was born Monday, March 5, 1923, at Location, a son of the late Jasper Loman Hebb and Villa Grace White Hebb.  On Dec. 30, 1942, at Red House, Md., he was married to Gwendolyn White Hebb, who preceded him in death April 26, 1997.

Surviving are three sons, Ralph Taylor Hebb and wife Narel of Location, Perry Donald Hebb and wife Louise of Pierce and Allen Lane Hebb and wife Tambra of Location; two daughters, Gwendolyn Kenanette “Sis” Burns and husband Paul of Location and Mary Jane Stemple and husband Erwin of Aurora; one foster daughter, Vicky Ann Williams of Elkins; one sister, Vonda VanMeter and husband Harold of Bretz; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Howard Hebb; and one granddaughter, Melissa Anne Hebb; one foster son, Billy E. Westfall; two brothers, Hugh Alan Hebb and Howard Ott Hebb; and eight sisters, Nelle Lee, Bessie Cannon, June Hebb, Ardith Boling, Faye Lantz, Addie Jo Helmick, Margie Hebb and Theo Hebb.

He attended the Fairview School at Location. He was a former coal miner. He worked for Bill Minear as a woodsman and he worked in the Stockyards at Terra Alta. He was a life long farmer. He attended Good Tidings Assembly of God Church at Location. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved his gospel music and to work the tractor on the farm that he was born and raised on and also raised his family. He was a gentle and compassionate man.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. On Thursday morning, Nov, 1, Mr. Hebb will be moved to Good Tidings Assembly of God Church at Location, where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Gail Hixon and Robert Hebb will officiate and interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Location, St. George. Hazel Knotts

Hazel Jean Jenkins Knotts, 70, a resident of the Sugarlands Community, Hambleton, departed this life late Wednesday evening, Oct. 24, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. Death was attributed to a stroke.

She was born Monday, June 21, 1937, at New Cumberland, a daughter of the late  Ernest “Merle” Jenkins and Oliva Virginia Williams.  On July 10, 1955, at Red House, Md., she was married to Elwood Gene Knotts, who preceded her in death April 11, 2002. They had celebrated forty-six years of marriage.

Surviving are three sons, Steven Allen Knotts and wife Barbara of Fairmont, Greg Arthur Knotts and wife Sue of Sugarlands and Douglas Gene Knotts and wife Erica of Morgantown; one daughter, Cynthia Jean “Cindy” Huffman and husband Roy of Sugarlands; one brother, Gary Oliver Jenkins  of Weirton; one sister, Joanne Marie Sanders of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Derek Simmons, Rachel Knotts, Zachary Knotts, Garitt Knotts, Vanessa Knotts and Nathan Knotts; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Kitzmiller.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Thomas Harvey Jenkins; and one infant sister.

She was a graduate of New Cumberland High School with the class of 1955. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sugarlands Church of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday school teacher for forty years and she also served as trustee of the church. She was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge #95. She served on the Tucker County Fair Board for several years. She was a member of Sugarlands Homemakers Club and a member of the Tucker County Senior Center. She was a noted cook and loved to travel.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.   Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. The Rev. J. Michael Lantz officiate and interment followed in Sugarlands Cemetery at Sugarlands. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Hazel Jean Jenkins Knotts. Orpha G. Moore

Orpha Gay Fitzwater Moore, 94, a resident of St. George, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home of Thomas, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Oct. 25 at the nursing home.

She was born Tuesday, April 15, 1913, at Texas Mountain, St. George, a daughter of the late Tilden Fitzwater and Mary J. Runner Fitzwater.  She was married to Andrew Engle Moore, who preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1976.

Surviving are three sons, J. Glenn Moore and wife Wanda Lea of Moatsville, C. Lowell Moore and wife Donna of St. George and David A. Moore and wife Janet of Portsmouth, Ohio; one brother, Roy Fitzwater and wife Ruth Ann of Greenville, Ohio; one sister, Mildred Frazee of Fairborn, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Virgil Moore and Deward Moore; four brothers, Willie Fitzwater, Howard Fitzwater, Troy Fitzwater and Ira Fitzwater; four sisters, Bessie Shahan, Lessie Barton, Opal Shook and Eva Elsass.

She attended the # Eight one room school at Clover. She had worked for the Forestry Service for seventeen years and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Pifer Mountain Church and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed in the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Orpha Gay Fitzwater Moore. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com. 

Troy Shoemaker 

A memorial service for Mr. Shoemaker will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at U.S. Rte 250 South in Pruntytown.  Services will be conducted by Elder Shaun Palmateer.
