Georgianna Heath

Georgianna Heath, 75, of Davis, passed away peacefully at her home Oct. 28.  

She was born Nov. 26, 1930 in Davis, a daughter of the late Ernest George and Nora Virginia Dickson Beyer. 

Georgianna is survived by her husband Warren "Mel" Heath; daughters Donna (and Steve) Roman of Mentor, Ohio, Carol (and Tim) McCullough of East Lake, Ohio; granddaughter Kimberly McCullough of East Lake, Ohio; sisters Evilee Iden of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Gertrude Tonelli of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by one brother Robert Beyer; and a sister Elsie Pell.

Georgie and Mel lived in Ohio for 35 years before retiring in Davis.  She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Davis. 

Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Hinkle Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. the funeral hour.  The Rev. Allen Schwarz will officiate.  Interment of remains will follow in the Davis Cemetery.  Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, Georgianna and her family request contributions to the Food Pantry of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Davis or Mountain Hospice, Inc. of Davis.    

Clarice L. Samples

Clarice Lola Hamrick Samples, 71, of Clendenin, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, at home after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 31, 1934, at Swandale, Clay County, the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Lola Bell Williams Hamrick.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands Gwen and Allen Rapp of Davis, Teresa and Terry Simmons of Parsons and Susan and Daniel Fink of Newport News, Va.; sons Glen and his wife Dava Samples of Hedgesville and Boyd Samples of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren, A.J. and Allison Rapp, Jessica and Kelley Jones, Daniel Helmick, Warren and Megan Helmick, Erica and Jamie Garrett, Jonathan Fink, Derek Samples and David Samples; step-grandchildren, Virginia Moss-Sisler and Donald Bradley; and great-grandchildren, Cole Rapp, Gracie Rapp, Jillian Rapp, Hayden Jones and Tyler Garrett.

She also preceded in death by her husband, Glen Bratton Samples; brothers, Charles Hamrick, Carl Hamrick and Curtis Hamrick; and a half-brother, Bud Sawyers.

She was a homemaker and member of Blackwater Rebekah Lodge #274 in Davis, WV.

The visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Community Bible Church, Davis. The funeral was held on Friday, Oct 27 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Glen Huguenin officiating. Burial followed at the Davis Cemetery, Davis. 

Herman Shoemaker

Herman Glenn Shoemaker entered into eternal life on Oct 22.  He was born in Parsons, Sept. 19, 1924, a son of Alice Shoemaker. 

Glenn is survived by his wife of 49 years Donna Carrico Shoemaker of Alexandria, Va. He is also survived by three sons Ernest (and Doris), Larry (and Vicki), and Mark (and Jeanette); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren all of Virginia; one sister Ethel Tonge of Cheifland, Fla.; and two brothers, Lester Shoemaker of Blakely, Ga., and Troy Shoemaker of Grafton.

Preceding him in death was one sister Virginia Shoemaker Dilly.
