Ronald D. Corbitt

Ronald Dale Corbitt, 42, of Dry Fork, died Nov. 5, after an extended illness, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Ronald was born Feb. 1, 1966, at Elkins, a son of Charles and Grace Corbitt of Dry Fork.

Ronald was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald, in 1966; also both paternal and maternal grandparents.

Survivors include four sisters, Judy (Ralph) Forte of Punta Gorda, Fla., Debora (Marvin) Rohrbaugh of Dry Fork, Norma (Rick) Summerfield of Parsons and Bonnie (friend, David Paugh) Corbitt of Dry Fork; two brothers, Michael (Lisa) Corbitt of Red Creek and Jeffery (Brenda) Corbitt of Dry Fork. Ronald also leaves behind 15 nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ronald was affiliated with the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church by faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to country music.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Sunday Nov. 9, from 2 until 9 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 10, at Dry Fork Assembly of God Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alice Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Roy Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  

Fred Raines

Fred Raines, 93, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at the Wesleyan Village of Elyria from natural causes.

He was born on April 28, 1915 in Red Creek.

He had been an Elyria Resident since 1954.  Mr. Raines was employed at the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Elyria as a shipping and material handler from 1954 until 1981 when he retired.  Before moving to Elyria he did construction work and worked with the crew that built the Pentagon Building in Washington, D.C.

He was a member of the church of God of Prophecy in Elyria and was also a member of UAW Local #780.  He did volunteer work at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria where he had served over 3,000 hours in volunteer time.  Mr. Raines enjoyed gardening and traveling. 

he is survived by three step-daughters Anna Ruth Burke (George) of Grafton, Ohio, Sue Anielski (Ray) of Grafton, Ohio and Gatha Davis (Bill) of Bartlett, Ohio; one step-son Joseph Crabtree of Elyria, Ohio; six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Ola a. Raines (nee Newberry) (formerly Crabtree) in 1984; his parents Lorenzo and Carrie Raines; and by several brothers and sisters. 

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Monday, Nov. 10 at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.  The Rev. Fred Robinette officiated. Burial was at Litchfield Cemetery in Litchfield.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 or to the Wesleyan Senior Living Foundation Associates Fund, 807 West Ave., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
