Marilyn Bible
Marilyn A. Bible, 76, died Monday, Nov. 20 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years Ernest; a son Michael (Beverlee) Leslie; a daughter Julie (Jim) Wile; step-daughters Cathy (Don) Gray and Sandy (Jack) Davies; grandchildren Ryan, Jamie, Lynsey, Courtney, Mandy and Erin; brothers Fred Downing of Winston Salem, N.C. and Dave downing of Fostoria, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends were received at Evans Funeral Home, where services were held on Saturday, Nov 25. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
June Bland
June Dyhre Bland, 75, of Lughoff, S.C., passed away Nov. 20.
Mr. Bland was born at Thomas, a son of the late Foster and Effie Bland.
He is survived by his wife Carol Copeland Bland of Lughoff, S.C.; a step-son Randy Hedrick and wife Agnes; and a step-daughter Brenda Roddy, all of Elgin, S.C.; a brother Carol Bland of Columbus, Ga.
Mr. Bland was employed by Mountaineer Gas company for 34 years. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at a late date. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church in Parsons. Kornegay Funeral Chapel of Camden, S.C. was in charge of the arrangements.
Katie Hilton
Katie B. Hilton, 77, of Kepton, Md., passed away Nov. 23 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born March 10, 1929 in Abbott, a daughter of the late Michael Dragovich and Gertrude Perchum Dragovich.
Survivors include three sons James, William and Jeffrey Hilton; seven daughters Katherine Sipp, Shirley Lantz, Patricia Terrant, Carolyn Hilton, Marilyn Hilton, Amanda Weeks and Sonya Allen; one brother Donald Dragovich; four sisters Mary Shrock, Virginia Markowich, Bonnie Altizer and Pauline Fair; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
she was preceded in death by her husband William Hilton in October 1989; four brothers Mike, Steve, Paul and Edward Dragovich.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis on Monday, Nov. 27 from 2 until 6 p.m. the funeral hour. The Rev. James martin officiated. At the request of the deceased her remains were cremated and will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lorren J. Lawrence ![]()
Lorren James Lawrence, age 21 years, a resident of Hendricks, departed this life early Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 1, 1985, at Elkins, a son of Jack Allen Lawrence Sr. and Alicia Maude McDonald Lawrence, who survive at Hendricks.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jack Allen Lawrence II, of Hambleton and Adam Michael Lawrence and fiance, Erica, of Philippi; his paternal grandmother, Donna “Mammaw” Lawrence; five uncles, Greg “Uncle G.” Lawrence and wife Carla of Belington, Rex “Uncle Tex” Lawrence and wife Tammy of Philippi; “Uncle Todd” Lawrence and wife Amy of Belington; Keith McDonald of Texas, and Eric McDonald and wife Debbie of Capon Bridge; two aunts, Shelly “Sis” Krizner and husband Frank, of Philippi and Denise McConall of Winchester, Va.; two nieces, Brittany and Breeanna Lawrence; and one nephew, Austin Lawrence.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfather, Lorren Jack “Pap” Lawrence; and his maternal grandparents, Milton H. and Vada Y. Youngblood McDonald.
He attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of Musselman High School with the class of 2003. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, completing his basic training at San Antonio, Texas, and was stationed in North Dakota.
He had planned to attend college starting in the spring of 2007. He was a coal miner, working at the Sycamore # 2 mine and attended the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God.
He loved doing mechanic work, lifting weights, jogging, basketball, shooting guns, fishing, softball and his loving spirit was a blessing to all who knew him.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. On Sunday, Nov. 26, Lorren was moved to Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God where final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons and the Rev. Sheldon Pennington officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Lorren James Lawrence. Margaurite VanNoy
Margaurite J. Dugan VanNoy, 86, passed away on Nov. 22 at Peoria, Az. Death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
She was born July 21, 1920, in Cumberland, Md., the only child of the late Leo M. Dugan of Bloomington, Ill., and the late Theresa Roy Dugan of Hendricks.
In 1939, she was united in marriage to the late A. Kenneth VanNoy in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by Michael Burcham of Huntington, Phyllis Choroba of Mich., Margaret Mattson of Scottsdale, Az., H.E. Roy of Pittsburgh, Peter Roy of Front Royal, Va., Rebekah Roy Nelson of Hendricks and Faith Roy Moore of Parsons.
She was the last surviving member of the Dugan Clan.
She was educated in local schools, graduating from Parsons High School with the class of 1938. She attended business colleges in Huntington and Fairmont.
In 1951, Mrs. VanNoy and her late husband settled in Phoenix, Az. Mrs. VanNoy was employed in the insurance field until 1970, at which time she left the business world and entered nursing school. She graduated in 1972 as an LPN and retired from nursing in 1989.
Mrs. VanNoy was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Phoenix
, Az., for more than 43 years. Upon her death, she was a member of St. Helen’s
Catholic Church in Peoria, Az.
Chapel of the Chimes will be handling the funeral arrangements. Interment is at
the National Veterans Cemetery, where she will be buried with her husband in
Phoeniz, Az.
