Robert A. Amie Sr. ![]()
Robert Arthur Amie Sr., 70, a resident of Montrose, went home to be with our Lord Thursday morning, Nov. 30, in Pocahontas Center Nursing Home at Marlinton, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sunday, Feb. 2, 1936, at St. George, the third son and seventh child of 12 of the late Arch Amie and Hilma Waybright Amie.
Surviving Mr. Amie are two brothers and two sisters, Arch Amie Jr. of St. George, Harry Amie of Ohio, Lettie Bell Amie Showalter of the Moore Community and Delphia Amie Snyder of Montrose; three children, Ruth Amie Pullin of Huntington, Robert Amie Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., Roberta Amie Wall of Layton, Utah; two stepchildren, Walter Connell of the Moore Community and Wanda Connell VanDyke of Gulf Port, Ms.; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Auvil, Sandra Moran Simmons, April Moran Renolds, Brittany Moran, Sheena Bolinger, Monica Moran, Taryn Wall, Thomas Bolinger, Christian Wall and Coalton Wall; two great-grandchildren, Irish Simmons and Dolton Auvil; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Preceding him in death was a special friend, Dolly Summerfield; three brothers, Harold Waybright, David Amie and James Amie; four sisters, Laura Amie, Ettie Amie, Stella Amie Jones and Rosa Amie.
He attended the schools at Clover Run and Parsons. Mr. Amie joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America on Feb. 8, 1955, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1963, at the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. He retired as a truck driver for Guttman Oil Co. of Beverly. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He attended Sugar Grove Church at Bull Run, St. George. He loved his family deeply.
The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed in Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George. Julia M. Balassone
Julia Marie Balassone, 104, of Thomas, passed away Dec. 2, in Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas.
She was born June 24, 1902, in Douglas, a daughter of the late Nicola and Maria D’Amato Leombruno.
Survivors include one son, Joe, and wife Mary Balassone of Keyser; one brother, Tony Lambruno of Thomas; one sister Lillian Boccardi of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patsy Balassone in 1975; a son Patsy Balassone Jr.; two brothers Dominic and Lupie Lambruno; and four sisters Emma Cianfaglione, Anna O’Dell, Christine Lahey and Corrine Warde.
Julia was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis on Monday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Thomas at 10 a.m. with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Vickie R. Bright
Vickie Rena Freeman Bright, 43, a resident of Pifer Mountain Community, St. George, went to her heavenly home Tuesday evening, Nov. 28, at her home, following an extended illness with cancer.
She was born Saturday, Dec. 1, 1962, at Philippi, a daughter of Robert Wesley and Wanda Grace Auvil Freeman of St. George. On Dec. 10, 1988 at Parsons, she was married to her dedicated and loving husband, James Patrick “Pat” Bright, who survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Robert “Mark” Freeman of Parsons; one very special niece Heather Freeman of Morgantown; a very special nephew Adam Freeman of Parsons; her maternal grandmother Nellie Nestor Auvil of Parsons; her paternal grandmother Sedalia Nestor Freeman of Moatsville; her mother-in-law Nettie Bright Lipscomb and husband Randolph, of Parsons; brothers-in-law Mark Bright and Paul Bright and wife Marlene, all of the Pheasant Community, and Junior Canfield of Elkins; a life long friend Suzie Hauser of Mill Creek; and a host of uncles, aunts, friends and neighbors.
Preceding her in death were her grandfathers Walter Auvil and Leo B. Freeman; father-in-law Harold “Squeak” Bright; one nephew, Robert M. Freeman II; brother-in-law Mike Bright; and sister-in-law Pauletta Canfield.
She was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1981. She received her LPN II nursing degree from the Fred Eberle School of Nursing during 1990.
She was a dedicated and caring wife, daughter, special aunt, nurse and she was employed at Davis Memorial Hospital for fifteen years. She was a Christian and attended Sycamore Grove Church. She was an antique collector, enjoyed going to ball games, she was an avid outdoors person and loved her animals.
The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed in Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George. Virgie Hebb
Virgie June Hebb, 93, of Parsons, passed away Dec. 3 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
She was born March 16, 1913 in St. George, a daughter of the late Jasper Loman and Villa Grace White Hebb.
Survivors include a son Robert C. and wife, Lorene Hebb of Parsons; one daughter Dawn and husband James D. Thorne of Elizabethville, Pa.; one brother Kenneth P. Hebb of Parsons; one sister Vonda VanMeter of Parsons; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Howard and Hugh; and even sisters nell lee, Bessie Canan, Margie Hebb, Opal Faye Lantz, Addie Jo Helmick, Ardith Boling and Theo Hebb.
June was a member of the Good Tidings Assembly of God church on Location Road.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 7 from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 8 at Good tidings Assembly of god church, Location Road at 1 p.m. with Robert R. Hebb officiating and assisted by Carolyn shreve.
