BELL, Stanley "Red" of Cowen, died at Summersville Memorial Hospital, on Sunday, February 1, 1998. He was 69 years of age. He was born in Bolair, on March 23, 1928, the son of the late Elmer BELL and Edith ADAMY Bell Chistfro. (4 Feb 98)


BLAKE, John H. of Litchfield, Ohio, died at his residence on Sunday, Janaury 25, 1998 following a long illness. He was 56 years of age. He was born in Richwood on November 20, 1941, the son of Mae WRIGHT Blake and the late Paul D. BLAKE. (28 Jan 98)


Carpenter, Kate of Upper Glade, died at the CAMC in Charleston on Sunday, March 22, 1998, following a long illness. She was 82 years of age. She was born in Buckhannon on May 16, 1915, the daughter of Taylor and Lonnie DUKE TAYLOR. (25 Mar 98)

CHRISTIAN, J. Paul of Upper Glade, died on Saturday, March 28, 1998 in  Charleston, following a brief illness. He was 64 years of age. He was born in Dyer, on March 26, 1934, the son of Lula Wright of Richwood and the late Lawrence CHRISTIAN. (1 Apr 98)


Clark, Esta King of Huntington, formerly of Webster County, died on Sunday, March 8, 1998. She was 88 years of age. She was born in Ritchie County, on Jul 9, 1909, the daughter of the late Edward and Ella MYERS CLAYTON. (18 Mar 98)


CLIFTON, Charles L. of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Webster county, died at the Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain, Ohio, on Wednesday, January 28, 1998. He was 54 years of age. He was born in Webster Springs, on March 28, 1943, the son of the later Minter CLIFTON and Daisy Clifton of Webster Springs.

COCHRAN, Sylvia Madge of Webster Springs, died at her residence on Tuesday, March 10, 1998. She was 81 years of age. She was born in Braxton County, on January 29, 1917, the daughter of the late Sampson and Nancy Ellen STOCKWELL DAVIS. (11 Mar 98).

COOMBS, Jimmie Frederick of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Webster County, died at the Hospice Care Center in Copley, Ohio, on Friday, March 20, 1998, following a long illness. He was 63 years of age. Davidson, Muriel MYERS of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Webster County, died at her residence on Sunday, February 15, 1998, following a short illness. She was 65 years of age. DAVIS, Carl Duncan of Webster Springs died at CAMC-General Division on Wednesday, May 13, 1998, from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 77 years of age. He was born in Adrian, on August 01, 1920, the son of the late Nathan and Ada WILLIAMS DAVIS. (03 Jun 98)


Delp, Nancy Irene of Cowen, died on Friday, February 13, 1998, at CAMC-General Division in Charleston. She was 50 years of age. (18 Feb 98)


Denna, Elsie E., of Cowen died in Summersville, on Sunday 19 Apr 1998, after a long illness. She was 94 years of age. She was born in Exchange, on 17 Dec 1903, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Loraina COLE BRAGG. (22 Apr 98)


Dodrill Esta, born March 27, 1902 the daughter of George and Martha WARE COWGER of Long Run in Webster Co. Esta was the widow of Willard C. Dodrill and was the first woman sheriff to be elected in the state of West Virginia.  She served her county of Webster from January 1961 to December 1964. She passed to her eternal reward on March 27, 1998, the day of her 96th birthday.  She is buried beside her husband at the Lower Point Mountain Community Church on Point Mountain.  (recieved from daughter - Mary Griffey)


DODRILL, Willard Christian, born April 29, 1902 to James and Mary (Bickel) Dodrill, and passed to his eternal reward on October 3, 1968.  He was a life long resident of Webster County as was his parents.
