Roger Terrill   Tue 30 Dec 1997  I am looking for information on Robert Terril, who was born in present day Ohio Co, West Virginia on May 1, 1808.  He later married Elizabeth Thompson on December 22, 1829 and they had eleven children (Daniel, William, Mary Jane, Jeremiah, Rebecca Alice, David, Elizabeth, Ruth, Margaret, Robert and John Thompson).  He was the son of Daniel Terril and Jane (Jane) Giffen. Both of which died in present day Ohio Co., West Virginia.  Thank you very much for your assistance. 

Jonni Morris Longstaffe Wed 17 Dec 1997   Looking for information on Jesse MORRIS, born abt 1812, and Hannah BARR, b. abt 1808.  They married sometime between 1830 - 1832, possibly in Monongalia County.  They had nine, possibly ten children, including my great grandfather Cornelius Morris, b. 1844 in Monongalia County.  Jesse is found with a family in the 1840 census of Monongalia county, but sometime before 1850 they moved to Wetzel County where they lived until the mid 1890s.  My grandfather, Jolly Lemly Morris, was born in Burton in 1887.

Mark Lemasters Sat 13 Dec 1997  I am looking for information on the creation of Valley High School in the late 1950's and the evolution from the three area high schools:  Reader,
Pine Grove, and Smithfield.  I am especially interested in the types of courses and the people that attended Reader and Smithfield.  What was the area like?   Economic and social climate during the time interval of the 1940's and '50's.   This is for a graduate class on History of American Education.  My particular emphasis is on rural education in West Virginia.

Sherry Ray Tue 2 Dec 1997  Am searching for information on the following families:  MINOR D. and MARY JANE SNODGRASS.  Mary Jane died 4/25/1925 in Pricetown and Minor died 10/24/1931 in Smithville.  They had 4 children Laura, Maud, Robert and a daughter whose name starts with a V.  In 1910 they had a grandson, Charles Anderson living with them. 
ALSO:
GEORGE W.  and MAGGIE SULLIVAN.  George died 10/16/1917 in Folsom.  Maggie
was still living  in Grants Dist. in 1920 but can find no record of her death.   Their children were:Tennison, Bryant, Crosby, Palmer, Dean, Jan and George.   Any info on either of these families would be appreciated.  Is it possible that someone in the area could look up obituaries of these people?

I was looking for any information on the ancestors (family) of John Stoneking b-1857 in Parkersburg, WV. He married ca 1880/81 to Viola Roberts b-1861 in Marietta, Ohio. They had 3 children: George Ruel Stoneking b- 1882 Parkersburg d-1957 in Wichita Falls, TX. George had 2 younger sisters; Hattie Stoneking that married a Christie; and Josephine Stoneking that married a Tucker. Any information on John's ancestral line would be appreciated. Family of Soloman Cooter (cooder,coates) and Mary (tuell?) had a son named James in Wheeling, VA between 1828-1830. The mother was born in Maryland around the 1800. This is the oldest known child so they may have been born there?

I am looking for any information on Sabeas Mane,Main,or Maine living in Wetzel or Monongalia Co. between 1800 and 1830. He died in Greene Co.PA. about 1866 but his second wife Elizabeth is in the 1870 census in Church Twp. Wetzel Co. Can anyone tell me how close that is to Greene Co.PA.? Sabeas could be buried there if his first or second wife are. I do know that some Mains did live in Wetzel Co. Any info. would help.

Looking for ancestry information on Jesse MORRIS b. abt 1812 supposedly in New Martinsville area, married Hannah BARR (b. 1808 in W. Va) in 1828in Wetzel Co. area. They are listed in the 1860 Census living in Davenport, but I can't seem to find that on the map. They had ten children born between the years 1832 and 1847. I am looking for information on the parents of James Riggs, SR. who was born in PA or N.W. VA (now WVA) about 1783. He was supposedly of English descent. He marrie Rosannah Whitlatch (or Whitlash) who was also born in PA or WVA. Thery were married in 1805 and resided on a farm near Pleasant Valley, Marshall Co, ,WVA (then Ohio Co., VA) until 1825 when they moved to Ryerson Station, PA a few miles from Cameron, WVA. I am looking for info on Nimrod E. Wright brother Of James Morgan Wright and Samuel Wright. Son of Samuel Jr. and Hester Asher Wright Of Greene Co. Pa. Nimrod appears in the 1850 Wetzel Co. census. At that time he was shown as 26 yrs old but he may have been 31. His wife was actually Cassandra not Carinda. Double S often was written in a way to resemble an R. They were married in Tyler Co. in 1845 and showed up again there in the 1860 census, so there stay in Wetzel Co. was less than 15 years. At that time in 1850 they had 2 children Nathan age 4 and James age 2. Any info would be appreciated.

I am researching some families from Wetzel County, West Virginia. My Grandfather was Levi Jasper GEORGE born in Jacksonburg W VA in 1876. His parents were William GEORGE and Jane SATTERFIELD. He married Ruth Jolliffe STACKPOLE in West Virginia. She was born in 1872 in Pine Grove and her parents were Thomas STACKPOLE and Lydia LEMASTERS. I am looking for any information on John D. Briggs who lived in Paden City, W.Va. He was born approx. 1885 and died as a patient at Weston State Hospital on 4-29-30 of what the Hospital called epilepsy. According to hospital records the disposition of remains was to someone in New Martinsville. He married Anna Truex on 7-31-1911. The Minister was a David Burton and the ceremony was performed at the residence of a Catharine Briggs. (relation unknown) According to the marriage licence Anna was from Moundsville and John was from Vernon. Both were born in Wetzel county. All information will be appreciated.
