About Mailing Lists
Mailing lists are remarkably simple: you send a piece of e-mail to the list's address, and the list retransmits that message to everyone who is subscribed.
All Lists Have Two Addresses
Every mailing list really has two addresses:
The list name, where posts should be sent
The list name followed by -request, where commands to subscribe and unsubscribe should be sent.
For example, posts to Wyoming-L should go to Wyoming-L@rootsweb.com while "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests should go to Wyoming-Lfirstname.lastname@example.org.
How to Subscribe and Unsubscribe
Wyoming-L -- It's easy -- just click here. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the state of Wyoming.
Wyoming-HOME-L -- It's easy -- just click here. This is an open list with a "hometown" atmosphere for anyone with an interest or love of Wyoming. The main focus is genealogy and history. Yet, remembrances, fun stories, folklore, Wyoming heritage, family (past and present), and other topics such as fishing, hunting, ranching, hiking, and even the weather and recipes are frequent and encouraged.
WYNIOBRA-L -- It's easy -- just click here. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in Niobrara County, Wyoming.
If you want to unsubscribe from the list, click on it and write just the single word "unsubscribe" in the body of the message.
