HISTORY OF Sublette COUNTY
Sublette County was named for William L. Sublette by Perry W. Jenkins, who introduced the bill for forming the county in 1921. William Sublette was a fur trapper and trader mainly along the Wind River Mountains in the early 1800's. Pinedale is the county seat. Around 80 % of the land in the county is under federal jurisdiction. Ranching and Oil and Gas Production are the primary industries.
